This was my anniversary I rented the room to have a fireplace and relax in jetted tub fireplace didn't work tub had significant rust when first starting so I had to clean it then run water the bathtub was half full of water on arrival and the faucet dripping constantly and the handle almost falling off the fan in bathroom was making a noise that made it uncomfortable to be in the bathroom long there was no lounge first night everyone was sick understandable but could have been told when I confirmed. Had to go get our own food and drinks although the staff was very nice it was very unacceptable there was also a item plugged into a dummy outlet extension that felt strange it didn't ruin my time I just delt with what I shouldn't have had to for the price.

Took the girlfriend for a weekend getaway.
Took the girlfriend for a weekend getaway. A town I've never been to before. Walked the town and obviously did a fair amount of visiting the stores. I enjoyed the bed and breakfast experience as opposed to a traditional hotel stay.

Galena has a nice downtown where you could spent some evenings. But it would be much cooler if all these shops and coffee bars didn't close so early in the evening. This is a kind of resort town, not a sleeping neighborhood, isn't it? :)

Need to get busing services from hotels to downtown shopping...
Need to get busing services from hotels to downtown shopping areas from the hotels especially on weekends.Jo Davies county transportation web sight said it was closed on weekends. They had Kick off to Christmas with crafts, ice skating, shopping activities and fireworks but limited parking was available and it was $10 per vehicle to park or free parking for a couple of hours. Not sure if we will return because of all the extra expense we had to pay for two vehicles to get the 6 of us there and park. Food prices were high, but most unliked thing was for our party of 6 didn't matter were we went no one would let us have our own bill. They would only do 1 check for everyone.
That made it hard knowing who owed for what all the time. Customers should be able to get their food and especially drink bills how they want them.
We ate mostly downtown lunch and dinner except for once we went to a Mexican restaurant on our way back to our hotel and the billing was the same way.
Your roads were very bumpy. We drove our personal vehicles during the day and used a private shuttle mini bus at night. Our driver was a hoot, but should not talk and drive with passengers.
Will probably avoid coming there again for a weekend shopping trip with the girls because of the things mentioned above. This was the census of others that we met at breakfast as well. They were told their was shuttles that stopped at hotels hourly as well. There were less of them so they used Uber but nothing was available for 6 or more for 3 hours and stores close early on weekends. Need more open restrooms as well. They are far and inbetween for women that like their coffee and hot coco do to the cold weather.

Lots of shops. Great food establishments and coffee shops. Many home you can tour.
We visited Grants home.
Ate at Fried Green Tomatoes- good food, a little pricey.
If you are driving thru Galena to a specific place, you can avoid traffic on Main St by going up or down a block.
We have stayed here many times and always enjoy it. The property has recently been renovated and it looks very nice, fresh. The beds and the bedding are very comfortable and the rooms are always spotless. The breakfast is a hot buffet with plenty of food. The afternoon tea time with mini sandwiches is a nice touch. They provide a trolley to the downtown area (although we have not used it). It's nice to have the pub attached to the hotel, we usually get a drink and listen to the music. Very comfortable.
Breakfast was nice. Would be great to see a couple more gluten free options. Loved, loved, loved the fireplace in the lobby & the breakfast room. Loved the quaint little bar. The decor was pleasant. Linens were better than a lot of hotels. Loved the staff, Alicia and Teri were awesome. Allie cared for my room. Left her a tip. Cleanest hotel room I have ever stayed in. Staff like this is definitely The Stoney Creek Inn's greatest asset. This is my 2nd stay.
We have nothing but amazing things to say about our stay! We loved every minute of our stay. The room was cozy, the breakfast delicious. Minutes from downtown Galena. This quiet oasis allows a couple to relax, enjoy nature, and disconnect from the hustle of every day. The attention to detail was impeccable. J & J were great host! We felt as if they opened their door and welcomed us! There is no doubt we would return. Highly recommended. Don’t hesitate!
I stayed here on a girls trip with my two sisters, could not have been happier with the room. The Blackhawk suite is its own separate house off of the main mansion and we really enjoyed having own own space. cheak-in and out was super easy and the breakfasts in the morning were fantastic. As a bonus we were close enough to have an easy walk to downtown galena for shopping and dinners!
There were so many wonderful things about this hotel! it was clean and cozy. It was right outside downtown Galena, so a 5 minute drive but not in the chaos of downtown. The pools were perfect for our kiddos and the free breakfast is better than I’ve had at any hotel. the front desk was so friendly and brought us needed items SO quickly. Thank you!
We absolutely loved our stay at The Federal House. Kate is amazingly kind and accomodating, Leanne is also amazingly kind and makes an amazing breakfast! We were so comfortable here. It is not on the Main St so it is away from the hustle and bustle but so close that it is easy to walk there. We will always book here when we come to Galena!
The Nook was a beautiful, cozy place to stay in a charming neighborhood just blocks from Galena's downtown area where we visited shops and picked up food after our long drive. I would book the Nook again in a heartbeat and will be looking at their other properties as potential rentals for future trips. Loved the Nook!
Nate & Helena are super friendly and nothing is too much bother. Rooms are gorgeous bed comfortable and the nicest breakfast. Some of the other big hotels could learn alot from these two. And location is excellent.
The ambience is quite romantic.
Perfect B&B for relaxation with outstanding hospitality and over-the-top breakfasts. Hosts are welcoming and gracious. Galena has much to offer when not enjoying the comforts of this beautiful home.
Very charming B&B with historical decor but modern amenities. The bed was amazingly comfortable and the breakfast is delicious. Great location - very walkable to everything in downtown Galena.
The hotel was in a nice lodation just out of the downtown area of Galena. With a few restaurants and Piggley Wiggley just steps away, you can get any last minute items you may need.
We had a great stay and my daughter loved the pool with slide. Staff was really friendly. Perfect hotel for our road trip. Would definitely recommend for a stay in Galena.
Such a unique experience! So special to stay in a piece of American history. The room was gorgeous, our host Paulina was super helpful…and the town of Galena was magical!
The hotel was extremely clean, the complimentary breakfast was amazing and the hotel was super clean. The staff answered all our questions and they were very friendly.
