Sorrento is not too big so a couple of days in the town is enough, but from Sorrento there is access to Capri, Amalfi Coast, Vesuvius, Pompeii, Herculanium and Naples - so there are plenty of day trips. We ate at several bars and restaurants and they were all very good. We particularly liked the restaurant Leone Rosso and gelateria David - they are next to each other very close to the train station. We also ate at several places off Piazza Tasso. Can recommend the free walking tour by Guru Guides.

Sorrento is a small town. Touristic, clean, quiet town.
Sorrento is a small town. Touristic, clean, quiet town. Beautiful and not too busy (we were there this May 2024) Prices are normal with some deals to have. It's close to Naples, Pompeii, Capri, Positano and Amalfi that you can use Sorrento as your base for exploring neighboring towns.

The local people are delightful. We felt safe even at night.
The local people are delightful. We felt safe even at night. Cruise ships are a feature so crowds become an issue and many businesses are set up for tourists. Drivers are surprisingly considerate and courteous, however, footpaths are often an afterthought or absent completely so care is needed. Be prepared to walk to see all the best features of Sorrento. Watch out for swooping seagulls if eating Al fresco.

Sorrento is a great place to stay.
Sorrento is a great place to stay. We were there 6 nights and could easily return for another visit in the future and see totally different things next time around. We visited Amalfi by ferry, Positano by bus, Capri and a couple of days by the pool and around Sorrento. Recommend the ferry over the bus for transport although the bus trip to Positano was memorable for the coastal road and views. We didn’t have enough time in Capri and so think we would stay over there if we go again. Food amazing everywhere, scenery stunning. Really great destination!

Sorrento is the perfect place to use as a jump off point to take day trips to Amalfi, Positano, Capri, and Pompeii. It’s also a great time to spend in Sorrento itself with lots of restaurants and things to do. Its the perfect alternative to booking 1 night in each of the smaller places!
We use Sorrento as base for our Amalfi Coast trips, stay in this property for 4 night. The location was great, walk to Train station (10~15 minutes), walk to Porto di Sorrento about 15 minutes (remember asking Host for elevator),
Host was very helpful, we stay in room #4, the shower space was in small size, but not bother us at all. (other rooms maybe have bigger shower space). Sorrento is a very expensive city, this property was great value for money.
Our EU trips including UK, France and Italy. By far our Sorrento's Host was a Best.
Amazing amazing stay! This was our last hotel in Italy and by far, the best. Perfectly located near many restaurants and shops; 10 min walk to the train station and the marina. The room was spacious and very clean. The bathroom has a full sink, bidet, and full shower with a waterfall shower head. Our bed was made, bath towels changed, and toiletries refilled daily. And the AC! The AC blows so cold which was very important for my fiance who runs hot all the time. Breakfast was delicious. Staff was attentive and friendly!
Antonella and Giuseppe were incredibly gracious and accommodating hosts. The room including bathroom was very spacious, bed was extremely comfortable, and the private patio had unbelievable ocean, city, and sunset views. We loved eating our dinners on the patio while enjoying the views. Shuttle service into Sorrento was free saving us many euros. Did I mention the breakfast spread? Americano coffee every morning was the best we had in our 3.5 week stay in Italy. So much fresh fruit, pastries, eggs, and more.
I liked the bed and pillows, it was super comfortable. The sea view was great. It was a bit noisy in the mornings, but I like it in Italy, it gives the right feeling. I chose this hotel because of the location, I visited Capri and later went to Positano by ferry. They do not write the platform number on the ticket, so ask for it when buying one. It was crowded in the centre, but quiet in the port in the evening which I liked after the busy day. Please note that the hotel has some stairs.
Perfect location which is right near the bus/train station (great for day trips to Amalfi coast) and the property was a 5 min walk to the main Sorrento strip. The property itself was clean, great view of Sorrento and the best hosts that made our first time in Italy memorable. The hosts told us about the best restaurants and areas to visit. The included breakfast was delicious! Thank you to Luigi for making our time in Sorrento so special, we can’t wait to stay in your B&B in Capri!
We loved the room, it was perfect for us, exceptionally clean all the time, we loved how we could use all the amenities of the Hotel Gardenia across the street, including the pool, roof top patio, and an AMAZING breakfast spread. The best one I had in Italy!!
For the other reviews who said it was noisy, there are double doors to keep the sound out - the owner walked us to our room and was so nice and so accommodating. we absolutely loved this place! would highly recommend!
It is hard to imagine better place of Apartment localisation. We treated Sorrento as a point to explore this part of Italy (Amalfi Coast) and it was great decision. Apartment is very close to the buses and trains as well as to the main street in Sorrento with very rich offer of shops and restaurants. Room was very clean and design of room looked better in live than on the pictures. Host was very kind, helpful and responsive in any cases. Plus for keyless access to the room.
The location of the property was great, only a short walk to the centre. There is a deli/convenience store below which is very handy. We would highly recommend getting a fresh made sandwich (great for bringing on a day trip to Amalfi/Positano, etc; ).
The unit was spacious and clean, and a great price for Sorrento. They come by each day to remake the bed and change towels every two days (no where else we stayed in Italy did this for us, so this was a nice treat).
My husband and I stayed in Sorrento for 2 nights. Valentina was amazing! From the moment we met her, she was very helpful with parking. She provided us with excellent recommendations in terms of restaurants and attractions. She was friendly and very responsive if we ever needed anything. We went to a few cities in Italy during our stay and B&B Valentina was the best place we stayed in Italy! Would definitely recommend :)
Very bright rooms with comfortable beds and pillows. It wasn’t in the heart of the tourist area but only a short walk. Front desk and dinning room staff were so great and efficient. I hurt my knee while in Italy and the staff were alway ready to fill a plastic bag with ice so I could treat thee swelling. They have a roof top deck that we used to catch some rays and enjoy the beautiful views.
Location wise, it was perfect. 5 minute walk to the centre, 10 minutes to the beach, everything you need is within walking distance.
Communication from the host was top tier, could not have been more accomodating!
The room itself was perfect, so comfortable, spacious, clean, modern and the bathroom was the best we’ve had in Italy.
Cant say enough good things about this place!
Fantastic location in the heart of Sorrento. The hotel’s original features are amazing and the rooms are spacious and clean. Iron and a good hairdryer in the room very handy. Typical breakfast in Italy, lots of pastries. The turning down of your beds with a weather report being left each evening was a nice touch. All the staff are very friendly and helpful!
The location is amazing, it’s easy to access ferries and we think Sorrento is the perfect base for this part of Italy. The accommodation feels very personal and the detail in everything is brilliant. The bed was by far the most comfortable we have had on our travels, the room is cleaned daily, it’s relaxing and the breakfast is a great way to start the day.
Absolutely LOVED our stay at Case Evelina. Liberto made our stay calm and comfortable with breakfast in bed every morning. The facilities were exceptional, the air-conditioning was cold and the location was right in the heart of Sorrento. We will definitely recommend Casa Evelina to anyone travelling to Italy.
Thank you Liberto!! Ciao
This was the best part of my entire trip to Italy! The apartment was spacious and had everything you would need. Great location right on the beach. Easy to walk to everything. My host Hector was absolutely amazing! He was so helpful with things to do and excursions. I would always stay there if ever in Sorrento again!
Comfortable room that was clean and well presented. The hotel itself was clean and a central location which made it easy to navigate to other areas of Italy via train, bus or boat.
The breakfast was nice and the staff were friendly and always happy to help and the pool was nice to lounge about.
Staff were uniformly pleasant, cheerful, and helpful. Beds were the most comfortable in our two weeks in Italy. Location was ideal. Our room with skylight was very nice, especially at night. The hair dryer was spectacular and much appreciated.
This is a family owned hotel and the staff was very nice. It's a pretty basic hotel and we were happy the air conditioning worked well. The pool was lovely, the food was mediocre but no different than most hotels in Italy.
