Blyth Hotel is located in the seaside town of Southwold, on the Suffolk coast. This beautifully restored Edwardian property offers an à la carte restaurant, a bar and free parking.

One room was lovely, the standard double was ok, but I could not open the window. Breakfast did not start until 8.30am which was a little late for us, so we had to leave without that

We had never been to Southwold before.

We had never been to Southwold before. We stayed in the area because we were attending a wedding at Henham Park. What a delightful surprise! From the beach and colourful beach huts, to the lovely independent shops and plenty of cafes, pubs and restaurants it had the unspoilt charm of times gone by. We especially enjoyed the harbour area and were only sorry that we were just there for a long weekend . We’ll definitely come back and explore more.

Although Southwold is best seen on a warm, sunny, wind-free day, we enjoyed our trip at the end of April, despite the cold wind! We walked to Walberswick and back along the paths available, stopping at a lovely café there before continuing the walk. We crossed the river via the ferry (£2.00 each) which saved us from a longer trip. There is a good, sandy beach with dunes if warm, & a pier selling drinks & lunch at the far end of the town. Opposite the pier is a small Putting Green & café. We stayed at The Crown which was central to the various quality shops, a lovely bakery & the Adnams brewery/shop. There is a range of pubs to suit all tastes & several teashops to choose from. Car parking is at each end of the town, but if hills are a problem, I would suggest parking at the top car park rather than at the pier end. There is also a lighthouse in the centre of town which offers tours. All in all, a good day out!

    A real seaside gem.

A real seaside gem. Plenty of pubs (but they do get busy in the season) shops and a long beach with a pier. The afternoon tea at the Swan I would declare the best I've ever had. The adnams brewery and distillary tours are worth doing if of interest. A place of charm, pleasent walks, slowly drunk coffees and letting the world slow down a bit.

We were out of season and some cafes closed at 3pm which we weren’t expecting but several restaurants, pubs and cafes in the town centre. The pier arcade was open and you could have a tour of the lighthouse plus the brewery. We walked to Walberswick (no ferry available until April) and some nice cafes there too! Lovely sandy beach and lots of nice fish dishes to eat along with many different Adnams beverages!

It was a great place to visit.

It was a great place to visit. Southwold in it self is quite small. There were a number of different jobs and local landmarks to visit which we enjoyed. Car parking prices were reasonable. Despite some places were closed, we still made the most of it and enjoyed our visit. There were definitely sufficient food places to choose from which were quite happy with. The shops were varied between local shops and bigger branded shops. The landmarks we visited were good too. You could probably see most of Southwold within a day. If everything was open and it was in the summer time, you would probably need more than a day to visit every inch of Southwold.

Never stayed in the Blyth Hotel before so was pleased to find it was dog friendly. The breakfast was good, the fish pie was lovely and it felt very relaxed and informal. Room felt uncluttered but warm and cosy, We usually stay in The Swan but they don't take dogs. Also the reception staff were unhelpful when trying to book afternoon tea for one of our days, saying the kitchen would be closed. Walking past the kitchen looked pretty much open judging by the number of people that were in there. Make your own conclusions on that one but I doubt they will have much of our custom in the future. Also try the Sole Bay Inn, dog friendly and good beer and food - you can't book in advance for grub. Bear in mind this is Feb so the Pier was completely closed until the season opens.

We stayed in squirrel. Lovely accommodation, small kitchen and sitting area and bathroom downstairs then lovely bedroom upstairs. Our daughter stayed on camp bed. Small seating area outside, has beautiful gardens surrounding. Great breakfast one morning (extra). Everything was very good, very welcoming, great advice on places to go. Really good location, short drive into Southwold but good spot for travelling further down coast - we also visited Aldeburgh, Orford and Snape.

Very nice hotel in a prime high street location in Southwold. A little pricey but overall we were happy with our stay. Staff were very friendly/helpful and the onsite parking was a real boost. Our room was a little quirky but its an old building with beams, low ceilings, etc. Very clean and the 'no dogs' policy is particularly refreshing these days. Excellent breakfast served by friendly and enthusiastic staff. I would stay here again if visiting Southwold in the future.

The location was ideal with just a 25 minute walk into Southwold. A very quiet area. The newly finished patio area is excellent. Overall decoration and presentation of Hotel was also excellent. Friendly staff. Breakfasts were brilliant and the two evening meals we had were lovely. Local buses to nearby towns within easy walking distance. We were in a Fire Exit room and we initially had a problem opening the Fire Exit door but this was soon sorted out by the staff.

The upstairs flat is perfect for a person travelling on their own: it is compact but wonderfully furnished, plenty enough for one but doesn't feel cramped or small. Kitchen is well equipped, bedroom is lovely. The flat is lovely and light and does not feel claustrophobic. It is located right in the centre of Southwold, above a shop but there's no disturbances from this, and with the flat at the back of the building, there's no street noise either.

Nice house felt very peaceful and spacious for just the two of us. Shower broke while we were there and was replaced/fixed the same day which was great. Nice 20ish mins walk into Southwold kept us away from the maddening crowd! Garden was lovely (although it rained nearly every day we were there unfortunately). Everything that was needed was there with a few exceptions (see below)

The hotel was in a great location in Southwold which is a lovely, unspoilt coastal Suffolk town. The staff were really friendly, chatty and helpful. Apart from the first evening where we enjoyed a delicious Sunday roast, we ate out to enjoy other pubs and restaurants in Southwold, but the breakfasts were excellent.

The house was home from home. There was everything you could have wanted, including some lovely little welcome gifts. It was warm, comfy and spotless. And in comparison to other Southwold properties, this was spacious. Communication from Trish the owner was outstanding. We REALLY LOVED our time.in this house.

Firstly all the staff were wonderful. Helpful, funny and very friendly. Breakfasts were great, good choices and plenty of it. We were a group of ten family members and everyone loved the hotel and staff. Just off the bar was an area with couches where we could all sit together which was wonderful.
