Breakfast there was none. Unfortunately front staff charged my card twice and have made it exceedingly difficult to get them to rectify this recommend you pay in cash they seem like there’s a lack of consideration. I have stayed at many Sandman over the year, and this is by far the worst experience I’ve ever had with them

The Fisherman's Wharf was interesting with the nicely decorated houses people live in and the lovely hot donuts we ate there. We enjoyed walking around the downtown, having lunch at the Irish Times, walking through the Empress Hotel, and taking a water taxi to Milestones for our dinner. I wish that I could have visited longer and see Emily Carr's house but it was closed at the time. Victoria is a lovely city and James Bay Village is quaint and my favourite place to walk.

Beautiful city with many places within walking distance.
Beautiful city with many places within walking distance. Don't miss Butchart Gardesn, Fisherman's warf and the parliament building at night. we had two dogs so meals at fishermans warf were the best and most accomodating. Our stay was too short but it gave us enough ideas for a longer return trip.
totally worth it!

Would be helpful if there was a bus on Bellville st.
Would be helpful if there was a bus on Bellville st. As it’s a long walk for a handicap person to walk up to Douglas st.
Over all felling Victoria needs to do more to make the city more handicap accessible. Many businesses have stairs that are very restricted.

Victoria is a great city to visit for a walking visit.
Victoria is a great city to visit for a walking visit. Don't bother with a car - parking is expensive or non-existent. Skip the tourist shops on Government Street (except Murchies Teas). Beacon Hill Park is nice especially in spring or summer. The walk around the waterfront presents some interesting views. The Royal British Columbia Museum is a great place to learn about the history of western Canada. Overall, a nice, comfortable place to visit with slight British flavor.

I lived in Victoria for 20 years and have stayed at the Emptess numerous times before and since. I find your attitude and facilities impersonal and commonplace. No individuality or character.
Run of the mill. Even the Union Club is more comfortable.
The Empress had a certain atmosphere you have lost it. No different than any other American hotel. I would stay at the Magnolia for convenience or Dashwood Inn. The only difference between the the Emptess and Sandmans is price.
You do have excellent staff. All your recent “ improvements seem to be money oriented and an effort to be “ politically correct “
We were upgraded to a queen deluxe suite. It was very nice and well appointed. Small kitchenette with nice coffee maker, microwave and refrigerator. There was a very comfortable leather sofa and a TV setup. The bedroom had a very comfortable bed and there was also a TV.
The TVs are smart and are connected to the internet so that you can login to your AmazonPrime or Netflix ect. Finally got around to watching Oppenheimer.
I used to live in Victoria and I love this area, great walking trails and access to downtown and nightlife.
Well maintained older hotel that is kept in perfect condition. Large spacious rooms with comfortable beds and lots of room for furniture (not crammed in like newer, smaller hotel rooms). Quiet and peaceful with the nice extras such as plush towels and quality linen. Pool, spa, games room, library are nice. Enjoyed an excellent breakfast on our last morning. Perfect location, we parked our vehicle and walked all over Victoria's downtown area. We always stay here when visiting Victoria.
Breakfast in the Tea Room was amazing. We also stayed for an English Tea which was wonderful as well. The room itself was beautifully decorated. The hotel may be old but if you like antiques it is the place to stay. The building exudes history. The location can't be beat as it is just across the street from the Victoria Clipper and Coho terminals. The outdoor garden is beautiful.
The location was perfect for wandering around downtown Victoria. The hotel is very clean and the staff very helpful. We were able to check in early so that we could go walking. There was coffee available in the lobby early in the morning and during the day. Good parking available. We had to book last minute and it worked out beautifully.
location was great. overall the value was good, a room for 200 dollars within walking distance of downtown core in victoria. basically what you would want, no frills, and if your priority is a cheaper hotel that you sleep in but not paying for luxury than this is the place. If you have champagne tastes dont book here.
This is a standard boutique hotel. We loved the location, Victoria is a very walkable city so it certainly pays to be central. The rooms were smaller but that's to be expected with DT boutique hotels. Parking was offsite but very close and was not an inconvenience at all. The staff were super friendly.
My son loved that the hotel had a pool, it was open until 10 pm and we could go for a dip just before bed. We also liked that the hotel was located not too far from downtown Victoria and had easy access on to the highway for our out of town excursions.
Best location to stay in the heart of Victoria downtown. Everything is walking distance. The room is cozy, homey and clean. I didn't know it was pay parking until I saw my billing. Otherwise, this place will always be our recommended space to stay.
We enjoyed having the hotel location near downtown and the harbor of Victoria. Loved the complimentary kitchenette. We only found out later, during check out , that there was on the premises a self serve guest laundry facility.
The hotel is in a great location in downtown Victoria. The room was comfy, stylish and beautifully renovated. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, particularly when we requested an early check in to attend a wedding!
If you want to experience downtown Victoria, the location is perfect. It is an easy walk to Chinatown in one direction and The Empress in the other. The hotel is surrounded by restaurants, pubs, shopping, and the wharf area.
Room was large and comfortable, and the location of the hotel near Victoria Harbour and the Provincial Legislature was nice. The included breakfast, which had eggs, bacon and sausage, provided value for money.
Lovely old hotel in the oldest part of Victoria allows you to really experience the history and ambience of this prettiest city in Canada. Staff are great and the restaurant and pub excellent.
Beautiful hotel with amazing staff!! We were able to leave our luggage while we visited Victoria. They also treated our little Lola (dog) to a treat and made her feel welcome. thank you!
