Beautiful pool and very well maintained. We spent 2 weeks travelling through Sri Lanka and this place was one of the best we stayed at. Situated in Mirissa, within 800 metres of Mirissa Beach and 35 km of Galle International Cricket Stadium, Ruwan Jungle Homestay features accommodation with a private beach area and free WiFi as well as free private parking for guests who drive. Ruwan and his family couldn’t have made us feel more welcome to their lovely Homestay. Nothing was too much trouble. The room had a very comfortable bed and modern bathroom. The shower was powerful and in the heat a welcome relief. Our room was on the small side but this wasn’t a problem as the outside space had a hammock, table and chairs. Breakfast was served daily by Ruwan and his lovely daughter. It was fresh and plentiful and always delivered with a big smile. The air conditioning in the room wasn’t great and took some getting used to. Ruwan did kindly offer to change our room but we declined as we didn’t want to inconvenience him with another room to clean. However it is only fair to share this information. We stayed 4 Nights with Ruwan and his family and everyday he checked on our welfare, if we needed anything or a ride anywhere. He organised a wonderful Whale watching trip for us, one we would recommend, as a must when in this area. Ruwan kindly cooked us a delicious Sri Lanka. Fish supper despite his wife only day’s earlier giving birth to their son. On New Years Day the family invited us for breakfast in their home. The food was plentiful, delicious and a reflection of this family’s kindness and willingness to share their hospitality with us. I urge Anyone in this area to visit Ruwan and his family if wanting an authentic experience. Ruwan, thank you , we will be back. You are in our hearts forever. Xox

But nothing quite compares to the level of service you receive at Three Gables. Dinuka, Suresh and the team went above and beyond to provide an amazing experience for my family. The hotel is stunning and with only 4 rooms, the experience is completely personal. We’ll definitely be returning.

The accommodation provides a 24-hour front desk, room service and currency exchange for guests. We really enjoyed our stay at Sinharaja Vini Villa. The location is beautiful next to the river and close to Sinharaja Forrest reserve. It's so peaceful, nice place to relax. The hosts are such a lovely family, very welcoming. All the family are involved in running the homestay. We also had dinner there, the portions are generous, and also beautiful fresh fruit juices. To walk in Sinharaja forest you need a guide as paths are not clearly marked, our host arranged a guide for the day hike, and was very kind as we arrived back late (we took ages with taking photos) and we were able to shower and freshen up, and had complimentary fruit juice before our onward journey. Our shoes got really muddy, and our host kindly washed them, and dried them for us. Also the accommodation can arrange you transport with good safe drivers. Would certainly recommend staying there, especially if you love a quiet time, nature and Forrest.

We had dinner one evening and were very satisfied—the portions were generous and filling. For breakfast, you can choose from local or international options on the menu. The hotel is within walking distance to Coconut Tree Hill, which offers one of the most beautiful views in the world. Saltasia Hotel in Mirissa is a must for any Sri Lanka trip and offers excellent value for money.

Guests can enjoy the on-site restaurant at the Lantern Hotel next door. Beautiful ocean front villa. The ocean is too rough and not swimmable, but there are several other beaches nearby, including Mirissa beach. My room was very comfortable and the food was pretty good. Also, very friendly and professional staff.
