Self Catering Accommodation in Drake

Very clean. The house stood on the hill so always some breeze came by. Simple but sufficient house. Location is good and you can see the sun set at a beautiful beach nearby.

Sebastian and Maria were the most amazing hosts. We had to change plans at the last minute due to road closures and cancelled accommodation. After confirming last minute availability at Bajo Bosque, I had a WhatsApp message 5 minutes later from Sebastian re-assuring us he'd be waiting on the beach to transfer us to Bajo Bosque after our boat transfer from Sierpe (we highly recommend this route in to Drake Bay). On the first morning, Sebastian took us into town and pointed out the best shops to buy fruit, veg and store-cupboard supplies. Later in the week when we experienced a power outage, Sebastian was down in a heartbeat with a gas burner so we could make our morning coffee and breakfast. We saw so much wildlife from the balcony of Bajo Bosque, with messages from Sebastian each time he spotted a Sloth in the trees. The Macaws were also a common sight in the trees road-side. We enjoyed the easy 20 minute walk down to the start of the Drake Bay hiking trail (spotted a Tapir on the road at night!). We were travelling with kids, and there was never a complaint about the walking because we always saw so many exciting things long the way. Sebastian also offers transfers at a reasonable cost which are well worth it to explore more of the Drake Bay Hiking trail. Our change in plans meant that we stayed 3 nights longer than originally planned, spending 7 nights in total. This was in hind-sight such a great alteration to our itinerary because our stay at Bajo Bosque was hands-down the best part of our 3 week holiday in Costa Rica. We'd also highly recommend a creek tour with José whose knowledge of frogs is incredible!

It is like living in the middle of the Jungle - there are more wild animals than in a national park! The beach is 30 minute walk away and very beautiful also. Our bungalow was super clean and the balcony had a nice view to the garden. Juan and Maria are very welcoming and super friendly and more than happy to organize taxis and trips. Plus Juan is a professional cook and the food was fantastic! A really great place to stay!

Great stay in Drake Bay! Beaches, restaurants and supermarkets nearby. Very inviting socializing area with kitchen and hammocks. And Javier, the host, is always happy to organize tours for you, even including the breakfast. Had the pleasure to have himself as guide in Corcovado - something you shouldn't miss!!

Great place to stay at Drake. Very easy to get to, close to everything. Staff super friendly and attentive and the place is very clean and has everything you need for your stay

This is not your average hotel in fact it's not a hotel at all its a house like it says on a beach but it's absolutely wonderful if you like the idea of listening to waves crashing outside your bedroom it's that close or enjoy nature right at your feet you will love it

The most beautiful stay in our whole costarica stay. Building is alone in huge!! garden full of life but very near to the beach. Modern and simple equipment, spacious bedroom with huge window right to the garden and beach (which is usually completely empty). Gardent is partly trimmed but half of it is made for the wild life (and i saw tapir there). It is very close to the rainforest, where you can just walk by yourself. Nony and Karin are super hosts, helping with aranging dinner, transport, tours, bringing coconut, .... everything.

Tico’s Gringos was one of the most incredible places we have ever stayed in. The wild life around the location is like nothing we’d ever experienced before - from monkeys in the trees to tucans and parrots, this place was truly in the lush forest. The place was well set up, with fresh water, a big fridge and cooking facilities. It was clean and tidy and the AC at night was ideal. It was quite spacious also and had Netflix and fast internet. You couldn’t really ask for more. The best part of the holiday was actually chatting with Tico and his wife and learning about the animal behaviour around the property - after a lifetime living in Drake, you can tell they are just as excited about every bird or creature as they were as kids. It was so great to share that excitement with them. Tico also knows everyone and can organise any of the trips for you easily, I recommend organising the activities through him as it tends to be cheaper and goes straight to the locals. We would LOVE to visit again.
