The Box House hotel pleasantly surprised me. The biggest advantages are the absolutely ideal location and reasonable price. The hotel has a cozy atmosphere, provides great amenities, the service is friendly, the rooms are standard, housekeeping works daily and the breakfasts are excellent! I will use this hotel again on my next visit to NYC.

Immortalised in popular music, culturally diverse Brooklyn has achieved almost legendary status. On the western end of Long Island, across the East River from Manhattan, this huge NYC borough is so densely populated that if it were a city, it would rank as the 4th largest in the US!
The borough is joined to Manhattan by 3 bridges: Williamsburg, Manhattan and the iconic Brooklyn Bridge. It is also linked to Staten Island by the lengthy Verrazano Narrows Bridge. Ocean-going liners pass under here before docking at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal in Red Hook. To the north-east, Brooklyn Bridge Park offers some of the best views of the Manhattan skyline, while south-east is the huge Prospect Park.
On one edge is Brooklyn Museum, the country’s 2nd largest art gallery, and just behind is the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens whose cherry trees bloom a vibrant pink. To the east are some hotels near JFK Airport, and there are more in neighbouring Queens.
At Brooklyn’s southernmost tip, Coney Island’s historic boardwalk has appeared in several films. Regeneration is underway to bring it back to its former glory, and the revamped Luna features a historic wooden rollercoaster. Also historic is the northern Greenpoint district with its elegant 19th-century houses.
Cheap Brooklyn hotels offer a good alternative to accommodation in Manhattan, so check Booking.com for the best deals.

The Diner at the corner was adequate for a tasty breakfast. Friendly staff
The attendant at the Underground was very helpful and gave the best guidance on the use of the underground trains
There was no retail shopping near the hotel, had to go into New York to make purchases.

Brooklyn is a very busy city.
Brooklyn is a very busy city. There are many options for activities and sightseeing. The traffic is very, very busy and the parking is almost impossible. If you know where you are going and what time you need to be there you must definitely factor in your commute.

This hotel has a bus stop right in front of it that take you express into the city. During my stay i would walk the few block to the train station and once i was done with my day in the city i would take the express bus straight to the hotel, what a luxury.

Brooklyn is one of the most diverse places on Earth.
Brooklyn is one of the most diverse places on Earth. Old, new, rich, not-so-rich. Every cuisine and kind of neighborhood. Prospect Park is in great shape and safe. The new(ish) waterfront parks by the Brooklyn Bridge and Brooklyn Heights are in super condition and have great view of lower Manhattan. Walking the bridge is a really highlight. So much more reasonable than staying in Manhattan too, and just a really short subway ride to all the best lower Manhattan attractions and neighborhoods. People have a lot of crazy ideas that big cities are bad and broken in the USA. It’s just not true in Brooklyn. It’s a great place that’s better than it was 20-30 years ago.
The Hoxton is in a great location in Williamsburg and it's right in the heart of everything. Getting into Manhattan on the subway was straightforward once we got the hang of it. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The hotel is really stylish and the lobby is really cosy, especially at Christmas. The WiFi worked well and the coffee and snacks in the room were really nice. The bed was amazing and huge. The sunrise over Brooklyn was stunning from the 9th floor.
The hotel is very nicely maintained, and they serve an exceptional buffet breakfast. The Red Hook Lodge is located very close to MSC Brooklyn Cruise Port and Station Island Ferry, and Lobster Pound Eatery, for excellent lobster rolls, and shell food.
My recommdations to management is to add coffee, tea, service 24/7. Like Hampton Inn.
Your customers will greatly appreciate the added coffee tea service.
Positives
Brooklyn is nice but it's a little bit of a walk to get to the vibrant places which seem to improve the more north you go.
Brooklyn heights, Dumbo, Williamsburg all places with loads of shops, boutiques; The slopes are near and also have a host of restaurants which is great.
There are some interesting brownstone properties nearby
The rooms are pretty good/clean. Bathrooms clean.
- Good location making it easy to explore Brooklyn or get into Manhattan
- Campbell was awesome and always welcomed everyone when they came into the hotel
- Cute lobby with art deco vibes
- Larger room than typical of NYC
- Good and strong air conditioning for hot and humid days
- 15 min walk to great shops, bars. restaurants, amazing views of the Brooklyn bridge
We were surprised how expensive New York hotels have become but we eventually found Henry Norman in Brooklyn and found it to be a real treat. The hotel offers a low cost very acceptable breakfast and although no evening restaurant, the Brooklyn area is plastered with cheap, very good takeaways which although not the Ritz were safe, fun and even quirky.
Williamsburg is my favourite bit of New York / Brooklyn so this hotel is a gem. Rooms are compact so may be a push for couples but as a Solo traveller I didn’t spend much time chilling in there. Bed is was very comfortable and room was quiet at night. The craft beer and burger bar in the foyer is pretty awesome and the staff were great.
Location was great for our needs
1. Subway stop not far away
2. Visiting friends nearby. Felt very safe walking in the area around hotel..even w/ walking at night
( This Greenpoint neighborhod is more North Brooklyn & seems to be a more quiet residential area than south Brooklyn toward Brooklyn Bridge)

Hotel is decent and located in relatively peaceful part of Brooklyn, nearby Fort Hamilton Parkway subway station, which is N line, around 30-40 minutes to Manhattan. Lots of small 24/7 shops around. Room was big, bed was comfortable but somehow took all of the space in the room.
The location of the hotel is great, short walk from the metro and short walk from Domino Park with superb views of Manhattan and the Williamsburg Bridge. Tons of restaurants around to enjoy great food.
The hotel is clean and modern and so are the rooms.
The hotel is in a great location, walking distance from the Brooklyn and Manhatten bridges as well as 2 good subway stops. We asked through Booking.com if we could have a room with a view and we had a room with a fantastic view of Manhatten.
Well located hotel in downtown Brooklyn. Friendly staff, and knowledgeable about local area/ how to get around which is a bonus for out-of-town visitors. Comfortable room (although small), and comfy beds.
We loved this hotel! The front desk lady was amazing
We wanted to be close to the Brooklyn cruise terminal. What a Great spot with wonderful people in Red Hook New York.
We highly recommend this hotel.
Fantastic location, within walking distance to Brooklyn Bridge and shopping. Hotel had great facilities such as bar, pool and spa. Our executive family room was a great size with 2 beds and a sofa bed.
Our entire experience at Ace Hotel Brooklyn was excellent. The bar was beautiful and the drinks were delicious. We had breakfast at the resturant and the food was amazing. High recommend!
This is my favorite hotel in Downtown Brooklyn. The staff are so warm and friendly, I feel at home. It is clean, very comfortable and quiet. Incredible value. What a gem in Brooklyn!
The location of the hotel was perfect for shopping, dining and subway access. I absolutely love the roof top bar!! One of the best hotels in the Brooklyn area.
