The nearest airport is Osaka Itami Airport, 39 km from the property. This felt like less of a hotel stay and more of an experience as a whole. If you are exploring Nara I would recommend taking at least a day to just enjoy this hotel stay. We were greeted by extremely friendly staff who helped us with every little thing, from taking our luggage to ordering a taxi for our departure. We were served luxurious meals for dinner and breakfast in our room, by staff who set our table and made our bed. The location was magical with beautiful nature and deers roaming around outside. They had an amazing natural hot spring bath as well. Would warmly recommend this place.

Amenities include a flat-screen TV with satellite channels, a fridge and toiletries. Guests sleep in Japanese futon bedding, and the rooms come with an all-wooden bathroom. We spent 14 days in Japan, in multiple cities...this was our favourite city and the hotel was a big part of that. The staff were so welcoming. The rooms were amazing. The private onsen on the roof was fantastic. We will be staying here again without question. A short walk to the temples, deer parks and places to eat and shop. The most amazing coffee house (Norr) is less than a block away.

They went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The facilities were amazing as well, beautiful, clean and rich in culture. The room was comfortable, the private onsen was free to use and really beautiful. The chef special dinner and breakfast was delicious, some of the best food we had while in Japan. Well done to this wonderful place, I would recommend it to anyone who is visiting Nara. Remember to have dinner there!

Featuring 1-star accommodation, Hotobil B&B 潤 An inn that enjoys breakfast is located in Nara, 2.1 km from Nara Station and 21 km from Iwafune Shrine. This ryokan provides free private parking, a shared kitchen and free WiFi. The ryokan features family rooms. The host was absolutely lovely and very welcoming, I wish we had stayed more than one night! The breakfast was amazing as well!

Basic Japanese-style rooms overlook the temple compound, and feature a tatami (woven mat) floor, on which traditional futon bedding is spread to sleep in. They are fitted with air conditioning and a safe. The food is great, don’t forget to order vegan meals if you are vegan or veggie because they do serve meat and fish at this monastery. The location is great, the grounds are immense and very beautiful especially at night. Sleeping on a futon is not my thing but apart from that the rooms are comfortable and the monks are very nice.

A 12-minute walk from the Kintetsu Nara Train Station, Hotel New Wakasa offers Japanese-style rooms with tatami (woven-straw) flooring. A spacious public bath and foot bath is available for guests to relax in. Free luggage before and after check-in is available on site. Free WiFi is available at the entire building. The quadruple room with private onsen was amazing, the decor is very calming, and we really enjoyed the outdoor onsen experience. Everything was great. I found the bed comfortable however my partner not as much so I guess it can vary. The coffee in the room was good and the soft drink, beer and cookies were a nice touch.

Tsukihitei is located in the Kasugayama Primeval Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Each guest room has a Japanese-style decor and offer panoramic forest views, traditional tatami (woven-straw) floors, and shoji paper screens. Very hospitable and accomodating. Genuine in wanting to provide a good ryokan experience. They took care of everything from drawing the baths and scheduling meals with us and patiently waited when we were a little late. Hosts were always on hand to greet when we enter or left the property. We even went for a little hike after arriving and it was quite peaceful, seeing the occasional deer along the way. We also asked for help to book a taxi to take us back into town and it was promptly waiting for us at the scheduled time.

Featuring an open-air bath and views of quiet street, Ryokan Asukasou at the entrancne of Nara park is a recently renovated ryokan located in Nara, 1.8 km from Nara Station. It is set 20 km from Iwafune Shrine and provides a lift. There is a terrace and guests can make use of free WiFi, free private parking and an electric vehicle charging station. This is a family run ryokon and every member of the staff was exceedingly friendly. They went out of their way to make sure our stay was amazing.

Kasugayama Primeval Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is right next to the ryokan. Wakakusayama Mountain, offering spectacular views of Nara, is a 10-minute drive away. Todai-ji Temple is a 7-minute drive. We had a truly wonderful stay at the Ryokan, the staff were so lovely and accommodating. The place was so peaceful. We got a room with a private outdoor bath, and it was SO wonderful. The room was zen, and I was surprised how well we slept on the futon. We also got robes to wear, and slippers. We also had a private dinner and breakfast, which was quite a feast! It is very traditional Japanese food, some very fishy (if you like that). Everything was perfect. And, they also had a shuttle to and from the train station. Perfect!
