Situated along Tanohara River and surrounded by tranquil nature in Kurokawa Onsen hot spring area, Oku no Yu Ryokan offers charming Japanese-style accommodation and various hot spring baths. We booked a Japanese-style riverside villa with our own private bath — the spacious interior and beautiful outdoor views were well worth the price. There were many different types of public baths too with varying views/ambiances. Dinner and breakfast were top-notch — you can tell that they’re made of quality ingredients.

Absolutely gorgeous place: a small cabin in the woods, very comfy and spacious, with a lovely indoor bath. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, the dinner was abundant and excellent (the shabu-shabu beef was amazing), as well as the breakfast. We had a really lovely stay and would have loved to stay more!!

Let me start with an advise; when you come to Japan go to Kyushu and stay in this hotel. My wife and I enjoy our last evening here (we stayed 5 nights) and this hotel is excellent. The location, the room (we stayed in the suite), the food, but most of all the excellent staff. The staff make you feel welcome, the service is warm and personal, yet professional at the same time. They know who you are from the moment you arrive. One of the best performances we experienced and we travel a lot. My wife has a rare allergy and they provided special meals for here. Exceptional. The hotel is also very clean and is recently renovated. The onsen in the room and the public one are comfortabel / beautiful. The location is perfect to visit Mount Aso, Kumamoto, Beppu, Oita, Takachiho gorge et cetera. Can’t recommend this place enough!

The service is very good, they even helped to keep your shoes. The view from the room is very nice, and the room is spacious and comfortable.

El Fumoto Ryokan ofrece alojamiento tradicional de estilo japonés con encanto histórico, así como varios baños termales exteriores e interiores. We had such a lovely stay! The staff were very helpful and kind and we loved all of the private onsens on the property. Dinner and breakfast were fantastic as well.
