Thank goodness we found Goombays Restaurant.
Thank goodness we found Goombays Restaurant. Without it, our stay in Kill Devil Hills would have been a total washout. Apart from the sunrise, which was awesome. We did visit the Wright Brothers Memorial Museam, which was informative.Guest review byKareno38United Kingdom - 6.0

Insofar as visiting and getting around Nags Head is concerned I think the most aggravating thing was the pace of traffic/speed limits. But I don't suppose anyone will be doing anything about the Rose Parade pace of driving.Guest review bytom - 10.0
I love Buxton... Just a minutes walk to get to the beach.
I love Buxton... Just a minutes walk to get to the beach. Plenty of restaurants in the area. You can get a good meal at Angelos Pizza, where they serve Italian dishes, subs, hamburgers and many flavors of hand-dipped ice cream. They have an assortment of arcade games, which were fun to play. My husband's favorite was The Cockeyed Clam, were the fried clams and shrimp were excellent. The local bar and Grill (POPS), is my most favorite, serving fried seafood, other items, at a very reasonable price. Conners Grocery store has just about anything you need and more. Delii meats/cheeses and sides are always fresh and they have unique items you can't find at Food Lion. Best place for Fresh Raw Seafood is Buxton Seafood with great customer service is about 1.5 miles from the Hatteras Island Inn. The Hatteras Island Inn is where you find caring staff, the most comfy beds and all the beach you need for a very reasonable price. All of these excellent qualities of Buxton is why we like to spend many mini vacations and long vacations on Hatteras Island throughout the year.Guest review bydeborahUnited States - 10.0
Having a room facing the ocean was a special treat!
Having a room facing the ocean was a special treat! Watching the waves roll in every day was magical for we midwesterners! The hotel is close to so many fun and historic restaurants. We enjoyed the nearby RunDownCafe, and Black Pelican. It was super easy to get to the Wright Brothers monument, memorial, and museum, which was our goal.Guest review bySandra - 10.0

It wasn't noisy like most hotels.
It wasn't noisy like most hotels. The room was fairly cleaned. The mattress was pretty broke down. There was a kiosk with a person to check in and no one reachable for the towels and wash cloths that should have already been in the room until the next morning. With all that said I have to say it was still a good value.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

Avon is a fun, family friendly town.
Avon is a fun, family friendly town. There is something for everyone there. Although I am old, I really got a kick out of the ice cream truck that came by the house with music, and even bubbles. The ice cream was delicious too.Guest review byCarollUnited States - 10.0
Duck NC is a cute beachside community.
Duck NC is a cute beachside community. With many shops, restaurants and photo opportunities, it was great to explore. Personally, we most enjoyed the nearly 1 mile long boardwalk along the Sound's eastern shore, along the west side of the Duck, Outer Bank area. Wildlife abounds, blue skies and coastal marsh, grasses and cypress trees offer great photo opportunities. Lighthouses, wild horses, to the north, Kitty Hawk and the Wright Brothers Memorial are just a few miles south, and the entire Outer Banks strip, more lighthouses, sand dunes, wind surfing, fishing and wildlife southward to Hatteras... and the ferries from Hatteras Island to Ocrakoke Island are well within a day's drive south. From Nags Head, head west on the 64 bridge and visit Roanoke Island and the hamlet of Manteo for some serious history lessons about explorations and occupation in the 16th century, and a good seafood meal! this was our first trip onto the NC Outer Banks. Granted it's remote when compared to many other American Seaside areas, but well worth the drive and time.Guest review byHB-PhotogUnited States - 10.0
We love the less crowded scene at Hatteras.
We love the less crowded scene at Hatteras. If you like kicking back and enjoying the ocean, sunrises and sunsets, fishing and just chilling out this is for you. If you want tons of stuff to do, lots of bars, loud beach scene, fast food chains and hundreds of restaurants, etc. etc. Go somewhere elseGuest review byJohnUnited States
