- From US$152.31 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.1Very good - What previous guests thought, 424 reviewsI don't understand why so many people are complaining about this hotel. It is as close to the ferry terminal as you can get. , The rooms are clean and tidy. The pool has a nice view on Faial, and is beeing cleaned every morning (and they are probably the only ones having a pool in Pico anyway...) You can walk in less than 5 minutes to all the different tour operators (Diving, Hiking, Whalewatching, Rentalcars....) and restaurants. It is maybe a bit dated, but I felt like they were doing their best at being welcomig. They even organise a mini breakfast buffet from 04 a.m - 7 a.m for people leaving early on hikes or diving tours...! Keep in mind that every Airbnb in the area is more expensive , without offering you room service, breakfast or a pool area. If you come to Pico for its great nature activities, and want an easy hotel, thats your place to go!!Guest review byYannLuxembourg
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Superb - What previous guests thought, 229 reviewsThe location was amazing, with breathtaking views of the ocean and Pico. The cabin was wonderful—beautiful, fully equipped, spacious, and modern. They really thought of the little things, like providing paper towels, vinegar, olive oil, salt—everything you need in the kitchen. There was even tea and coffee waiting for us! As we were celebrating our 10-year anniversary, they surprised us with a sweet and thoughtful gesture when we arrived. It actually brought tears to my eyes—it was so touching to feel that they had gone the extra mile to make our stay special. We love cooking, so it was perfect for us. We could buy fresh local products, bring them back, and enjoy meals outside at a lovely table with a sea view. The staff was incredibly kind, friendly, and welcoming. We absolutely recommend staying here and truly hope to return someday!Guest review byAlineCanada
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.7Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 149 reviewsExtremely welcoming, service-minded staff (owners managing there own place); nice room with own balcony and sea and mountain view; decent room size; fabulous breakfast; quality answers to every question, advice from the tourist's perspective, sometimes driven by the business interests of the other services the place offers, but never inappropriate or even intruding; located right in the middle of where the action in more and more buzzling Lajes is.Guest review byMarcoSwitzerland
- From US$164.03 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.8Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 236 reviewsIf you hapoen to arrive to a remote island as Pico here is #1 essential for you: Ana, the actual manager of this property, a stranger-sister whom you did not know you have, who just gets you. Apart from a very nice high end property, Ana took care of me, and my expectations from this vacation. She know everything in the Island by heart. She is generous, kind and smiley! I stayed extra 6 nights because of her welcoming approach!Guest review byLitalIsrael
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.2Very good - What previous guests thought, 64 reviewsThe location facing the sea is wonderful and the house is perfect for a family of 4 (2 adults, 2 teens) with all amenities (equipped kitchen, washing machine). There is a natural pool and supermarket just a walk away. Jennifer and Beatriz are welcoming and helpful. They picked us up at the airport to the house where our car was waiting and dropped us off at the ferry for our trip to Horta. Would have loved staying a little longer.Guest review byoeufFrance

Madalena is an awesome place to spend time in.
Madalena is an awesome place to spend time in. You can book acitivities with agencies near the port. There are a couple of really good restaurants. Pico wine is amazing! During my stay in Pico (may) the weather was extremely changing and it was very hard to plan activities such a hiking Mt. Pico that depends on the weather. The temperature could feel like 30c while it was sunny and felt like 10c when cloudy and rainy. The same goes for the wind. Averall worth the experience tho. :)Guest review byMartinCanada - 8.0

São Roque is very spread out, so a car is needed if you stay outside the heart of the village. Most restaurants were closed, so dining out was tricky (end of March). It is worth staying in a self catering place when going off season. The minimarket by the fire-station is well stocked. Safe swimming spot at the Naval Club. Close to hiking trails.Guest review byOdilePortugal - 8.0
A nice little town with several good restaurants.
A nice little town with several good restaurants. We visited in September and some restaurants were closed so we needed to book some of the more popular ones. Whaling museum interesting to understand previous culture and history of the Azores. Supermarket and a few small shops. We used this as our base. The roads on the whole were good between Lajes and other places of interest. There is a little windmill which is very picturesque especially at night when it is lit up. Lovely sunsets.Guest review byPaulineUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Quiet place.
Quiet place. Only one restaurant open starting 7pm, 2 small shops and 1 bar. No no tourist attractions. Perfect if you looking place for silence and rest and you are ready to drive to see something interesting or to go to restaurant. Recommended is to have car -- buses are not real option.Guest review byWojciechPoland - 10.0

The accommodation is few km's from Madelena and, to be flexible, you need a car to get there. Nice to walk over the lava boulders, enjoy the view at Failal and Sao Jorge. Go to the Terra Alto, nice quiet landscape.Guest review byG.J.Netherlands - 8.0

Madelena is a small town but with a few good restaurants and bathing places. It is right under Pico mountain. Access to Pico is very proximate There is an interesting coastal walk heading out of the town and great examples of the lava stone enclosures where the vines are grown. In the town there is a lovely wine bar serving wine tastings with a regional cheese platter.Guest review byGinaIreland - 10.0
Highly recommended
Highly recommended If you can secure the separate apartment in this delightful complex of clever conversions then you'll get a better view than from the ground floor apartment we had ( which was still very good ) - worth asking the host about which properties are available for your stay and ascertaining the viewsGuest review byDavidUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Lajes do Pico is a small and very cute town.
Lajes do Pico is a small and very cute town. It is clean and well maintained and has a few nice restaurants. We liked walking along the shore, eating at Ritinha restaurant, and eating Pastel de Nata at the Pastellaria.Guest review byLiviuCanada - 8.0

Here you can experience the wilder remoter part of Pico Island. I walked along the marked trails about 10km to the Miradouro de Alto de Cedros, finding some woodland trails on the steep hillside. If I'd had another day I'd have taken the bus to Piedade and walked back along the coast. Praia itself was quiet, with walks to the beach, a handy local shop and passing buses.Guest review byCaroline SwainUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Really good location if you don't have a car.
Really good location if you don't have a car. Really close to the airport and ferry terminal with plenty restaurants and a supermarket within walking distance. If you're planning on climbing Pico, then having a bit of spare time is a good idea, as the weather may mean you have to change the date. It took me three attempts to get a good day!Guest review byDavidUnited Kingdom
