- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.8Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 58 reviewsThe Bottom cottage is a lovely old house set high on a hill on a sheep farm. So cozy, comfortable and well appointed. The view from the cottage is sweeping - green fields, the river and the ocean. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen had all you needed, the living room was comfortable, good wifi, good showers. I wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy the amenities and the garden.Guest review byJillUnited States
- From US$87.11 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.8Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 1,015 reviewsThis is the best motel I have stayed so far. The unit was new and super clean, fully equipped kitchen, they pay attention to many details and overall it’s just cosy. The manager through the phone was very friendly, the heater was on when we arrived late:) super affectionate cat accompanied us during the morning and amazing red sky during sunrise. Overall very peaceful and calm place:)Guest review byGabijaLithuania

The room had a large covered deck with picnic table was a great spot for leaving muddy boots or sitting in the sun. Staff were friendly helpful and efficient would definitely recommend and come and stay again. Meals were amazing at the bistroGuest review bySarahNew Zealand
- From US$113.25 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.7Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 608 reviewsThe view, ocean front location, and value for the money can't be beat! The room has a couch facing the wall-to-wall sliding glass door/windows which look out to the Kaka Point beach. Communication with the owner was great. The room had a separate living area/kitchenette and bedroom. They left chocolates for us on arrival which was nice.Guest review byDarrenUnited States
- From US$63.30 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 6.9Pleasant - What previous guests thought, 527 reviewsThe reception staff were welcoming and friendly the shared kitchen was modern clean and tidy (it could have done with an extra toaster) having just the one. We were in room 312 which was a little larger than the others having a single bed in it as well but was warm and comfortable.Guest review byDennisAustralia

I found Kaka Point had a lovely peaceful community vibe.
I found Kaka Point had a lovely peaceful community vibe. The weather turned during my short stay there, but that didn't spoil my walk out to the lighthouse at Nugget Point. It was extremely windy with very rough seas, which made me appreciate how hard shipping must have been back in the day.Guest review byJudyNew Zealand - 8.0

Owaka is a small village, it has an excellent Inn especially for accommodation. The village has a small but well stocked supermarket, it has two restaurants and two cafes. It is quiet and peaceful. It is well located for visits to sites along the coast. It has a modern museum that gives you information on the history of Owaka it also had an art exhibition.Guest review byArthurUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Travellers just need to be aware that Niagara Falls is a joke, but it is a lovely place to stay. Possibly, Curio Bay around the corner would be a more spectacular place to stay, but Niagara is only a short driving distance away. We used Niagara as our base to get to Invercargill, after travelling from Dunedin. We spend a day visiting Mclean falls, unfortunately Cathedral Cave was closed.Guest review byAAustralia - 6.0

Comfortable beds, nice restaurant and bar-although we only bought drinks. The ladies toilets were not cleaned thoroughly and the lighting was very dull in the kitchen. McLean falls are definitely worth the walk.Guest review byFawcett - 10.0

Loads of wildlife to watch- we saw bellbirds, fantail, a yellow eyed penguin, sealions all within a few meters of where we were staying. We walked over to Jacks Blow hole following the doc track beside the accommodation. We were down for a School reunion but have previously visited sites such as McLean falls, Purakanui falls, Surat bay, Cannibal bay, Curio Bay, Horseshoe falls. All well worth a look around. This is some of New Zealands presitine rainforest and home to many bird species as well as the world's rarest penguins - Hoiho - Yellow Eyed Penguins.Guest review bySarahNew Zealand - 10.0

A nice spot close to Owaka for essentials and not too far from Balclutha either. We found some books in 2 shops (second hand) at Balclutha but there was also a "library" fridge just across the road from the accommodation. Also a nice coffee just at the end of the street.Guest review byPeterNew Zealand - 8.0

I only recorded the address which was rejected by the sat nav on my car. After travelling all the way to Niagara we were advised that the address was about 6km back at Waikawa. Tried to phone the owner and requested to leave a message which I didn't do! By the time received a return response we were at the accommodation.Guest review byJeffrey HunterNew Zealand
