We had a wonderfull time at Thambu Illa. Mathu and Sutha did everything possible to make our 3 night stay a pleasant one. They also organised a private guided tour of Jaffna and the peninsula. It was really worth it. The breakfast was according to our wish srilankan or western. Lunch/dinner is ordered from out and very tasty. They have reliable TukTuk drivers and tipps for Jaffna eateries on hand. We want. to come back!!

Usually, it's really hard to find a good place to stay in Jaffna, Either it's cheap and has some shortcomings or it has to be a 5-star hotel. But Jaffna Inn is in a perfect location. You are in walking distance from everything you need. And it's relatively cheaper. The staff was friendly & helpful, It was clean & comfortable. It had everything I was looking for.

The rooms were clean. The staff was nice and very flexible. They tried to accommodate all my requirements. I checked in very early because my bus arrived at Jaffna at 6 am and they allowed me to check in immediately. The restaurant was clean and the food was good. The Wi-Fi speeds were good. The location is 5 mins walk from Jaffna town, but still in a quiet neighbourhood. The hotel has space available for limited number of vehicle parking as well. They have a backup generator on standby, which is a bit loud for me as my room was close to it.

    wonderful place to stay. the outside patio is great to chill and read a book or meet some fellow travelers. we liked the environmental responsibility of the host: he supplied water for his guests so they don’t have to buy so many plastic bottles. every guest house should offer this. Wi-Fi worked very well.

    In a nutshell its a beautiful traditional house and very large comfortable rooms. Very clean and staff is super friendly. I ate several places in Jaffna but the food they gave for breakfast is amazing, very tasty and 100% Jaffna style. I would recommend to anyone without any hesitation.

    The hotel is near to the bus station and the rooms are renewed. The personnel is very cordial and available when necessary. Nevertheless the open-air restaurant is close to the rooms, and the place is silent. The proximity of the restaurant is an advantage.

    We enjoyed visiting the Nallur temple, fish market and...

    We enjoyed visiting the Nallur temple, fish market and fishing village and especially the excursions around the Jaffna peninsula and the nearby islands. August is a great month to be in Jaffna, as there are temple festivals all around, with music and rituals. For a nice cold beer and some snacks, the Machang bar / restaurant - near the modern North Gate Hotel - is highly recommended. For a mid-morning snack, the old-fashioned Malayan café near the busy market is a great place where time seems to have stood still. Food is served on fresh banana leaves - which are thrown away in the 'banana leaf throwing station'. For a decent evening meal, head to the Valampuri restaurant - in the hotel of the same name. You'll be surrounded by lots of Sri Lankan family groups.

    Our time at Delft Beachfront Villa was amazing!

    Our time at Delft Beachfront Villa was amazing! They didn't just offer us a free breakfast; they also organized a tuktuk and a knowledgeable guide so we could explore Delft island. The snorkeling they arranged was fantastic. The spot was beautiful, with clear water full of colorful fish and stunning rocks. we were mesmerized by what we saw underwater. Plus, they have bikes available for guests to explore the island on their own. If you looking for a memorable getaway with great hospitality and exciting experiences, Delft beachfront Villa is the place to go. we highly recommend it for anyone who wants a mix of relaxation and adventure!

    A hidden beauty with in the Jaffna penisula.

    A hidden beauty with in the Jaffna penisula. Serene Casurina beach will mesmeraize you. The Fort Hammenhiel will take you back to hsitory. The drive through will serve you with beautiful paddyfiels and palmyrah gardens. There are several beautifully built Hindu Temples.

From the moment we arrived, the peaceful atmosphere—filled with the gentle rustle of palm trees and birdsong—made it easy to unwind. The villa itself is impeccably maintained, offering a perfect blend of comfort and style. The interiors are spacious, clean, and thoughtfully designed, with modern amenities (like a fully equipped kitchen and cozy bedrooms) that made our stay effortless. But the true star of the show is the outdoor space! The sprawling garden feels like a private oasis, ideal for morning coffees on the patio, leisurely strolls among flowering plants, or evenings grilling under the stars. Our kids loved playing freely in the safe, open area, and we cherished the alfresco dining setup surrounded by nature. Location-wise, it’s a gem—tucked away for privacy yet conveniently close to Keerimalai’s natural springs and a short drive from Jaffna’s cultural sites. The quiet neighborhood added to the restorative vibe, but we never felt isolated. A special shout-out to the host, who was attentive and gracious, offering local tips and ensuring we had everything we needed. Their hospitality truly elevated our experience.     "Jaffna is a truly impressive city—very clean, peaceful, and notably low on traffic. We had a wonderful stay at the North Gate Hotel, situated right next to the railway station. What surprised and delighted us most was the spotless condition of the Jaffna Railway Station. In our experience, railway areas are typically the dirtiest, but the excellent maintenance here created a lovely and quiet environment right outside our hotel. Our sincere thanks to the Railway Master for setting such a high standard! We absolutely loved our visit and look forward to returning."

    Jaffna is still an unspoiled and hidden gem of a city. People are super friendly and the city is bustling and easy to navigate. There is a beech just outside the city center which is quiet and beautiful. It was very hot when we visited in july but we did not mind this at all.
