SpainThis hotel is, with no doubt, the best hotel in Hikkaduwa (and probably in Sri Lanka) The location is perfect, the rooms are amazing (well organised, incredible views, all the amenities you can need, soft towels, good coffee and tea…), the breakfast is the best one we have had in Sri Lanka (awesome!!!), the pool is fantastic and the staff is the best that the hotel keeps…thanks to Franzi for all the recommendations, attentions and care ❤️). We really didn’t want to come back home 🥹.
The relation quality-price can’t be better and I do not understand yet why the hotel just keeps 5 stars! Should be at least 6! Really, the best place in Sri Lanka for relaxing, surfing or enjoying the sun.

The rooms are spacious and pleasant, the bathroom is large and bright. The hotel has a pool and the children enjoyed swimming in it. In addition, the hotel restaurant offers delicious and unique dishes, but above all the management team and employees are exceptionally kind and welcoming. The location of the hotel is excellent, we enjoyed being close to the sea (on foot) and close to various restaurants.

The hotel is located in a stunningly beautiful location, surrounded by lush greenery and stunning views. If you're looking for a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, this is the perfect place to be.
One of the things that really stood out to me during my stay at the Serenity Boutique Hotel was the exceptional staff. They were some of the best I've ever encountered in my travels, going above and beyond to ensure that our every need was met. Especially after an unfortunate incident that happened to me, the owner made sure that everything was handled well, which I highly appreciate!
Despite being a bit outside the main town of Unawatuna, I found this to be a real benefit. It provided a tranquil retreat away from the noise and crowds, allowing us to relax and unwind completely. That said, it's still close enough to the town that you can easily access all of the local attractions and restaurants.
All in all, I would definitely recommend the Serenity Boutique Hotel to anyone looking for a peaceful and rejuvenating vacation. The stunning location, exceptional staff, and peaceful atmosphere make it the perfect place to unwind and recharge. Whether you're traveling with family, friends, or on your own, this is definitely a destination worth considering.

The Citrus Hotel in Sri Lanka is a place worth recommending. From the very first moment, you can feel that guests are a priority – the service is exceptionally friendly, courteous, and always smiling. The staff strives to meet guests' expectations with great commitment, creating an exceptionally welcoming atmosphere. Special recognition for their commitment goes to Manager Sudath, Malsha and Ishara, as well as the rest of the hotel staff.
The food deserves special mention – it's diverse, fresh, and truly delicious. The buffet is well-balanced, offering both local and international dishes. The attention to quality and presentation is truly high, making every meal a pleasure.
The hotel itself, although not the newest, is well-maintained, and it's clear that the owners and staff place great emphasis on ensuring guests feel comfortable. The rooms are clean and well-maintained, and the housekeeping service responds quickly to any needs. The hotel's common areas are tidy, and the pool and relaxation areas offer a peaceful atmosphere.
The location is also a huge advantage – it's a great base for both exploring the area and spending a few days in complete relaxation.
In summary, considering Sri Lanka's conditions and the standard of a 4-star hotel, the Citrus definitely stands out. Excellent cuisine, friendly and professional staff, excellent service, and attention to detail make it a truly relaxing and welcoming place. Cocobay Hotel : One Week January 2025 We had a wonderful stay in this fantastic place with its location with a quiet beach, a tropical environment all around, and a top hotel (in its comfort, its services, and especially by all the staff: the reception, the kitchens (excellent dishes), wonderfull room services, Wonderfull restaurant service (smile to Upul), Top managers (thanks dedicated to Buddhika). Without forgetting the precious massage from Vidula, who put my back back in place following a fall down while getting off a Bus :) The kindness, the smiles, the availability and the human exchanges that we were able to have with this Dream Team will remain engraved in our heart. The guest services were exceptional, with every staff member demonstrating a commitment to providing the highest level of hospitality. In particular, I would like to acknowledge the exceptional efforts of Mr. Sanke, the front office manager, and Mr. Mahinda, the restaurant manager, who went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and satisfaction. Additionally, the water sports activities offered by the hotel were both enjoyable and reasonably priced, with a strong emphasis on safety.

Great breakfast and dinner at a reasonable price, also available for non-guests (our friends joined us for meals).
The room had a dehumidifier, which kept our bed sheets and clothes dry.
There was a comfortable balcony with a beautiful ocean view, and we enjoyed a fabulous sunset every evening.
We traveled with our 5-month-old daughter, and the staff absolutely adored her. They were all smiling, kind, and incredibly welcoming to her and to us!

We love everything! We ended up keep extending our stay. I think we stayed at least 5 nights. I love the view and the sound of the wave. This is therapy. The twins room is large enough to add one more bed and become a triple room. The staff team is super helpful and nice. They accommodated all our request! We highly recommend this hotel! We loved the suite with a seaview. We stayed here for the last night of our honeymoon, and the staff did a wonderful job to make it the perfect end to our holiday. The Galle Fort in Galle is my absolute favorite place — it has a vibe of its own. It’s completely safe at any time of the day, even for solo travelers. There’s so much history within the Fort walls to learn about and beautiful architecture to explore. The hosts at the restaurants and hotels inside the Fort are amazing, and the service is truly of international standard. The view of the Indian Ocean from the Ramparts is simply breathtaking. There are plenty of restaurants offering a wide variety of cuisines and dishes to try.
Outside the Fort, I highly recommend visiting the beaches at Unawatuna, just a few kilometers from Galle City Centre. While you’re there, don’t miss the Japanese Peace Pagoda at Rumassala — you won’t regret it! Yaddehimulla Road in Unawatuna has everything from surf schools and restaurants to gem shops, gelato spots, international cuisines, and everything in between.
For quick bites and essentials, SPAR Supermarket at Galle City Centre is your go-to place. You’ll find tasty rice and curry meals, ready-to-eat options, mosquito repellent, basic medical supplies, snacks, good-quality fruits, and other everyday necessities.

we stayed here at the end of September so the sea was not as calm as it would normally be (or so the locals told us) but you could still go into the sea but maybe not for too long. We enjoyed ambling around the town and going into Gaul more. We used the pool at our hotel more than the beach here.

We did not venture into Bentota.
We did not venture into Bentota. We are expats living in Colombo so no need to explore the city. The hotel was at the right spot for a 100% relaxing weekend away with no distractions. The ocean is not that swimmable as the sea was very rough and looked dangerous. The pool was a welcome alternative. We drove to Galle for the Saturday to watch the game between Springboks and Kiwis. That was not too far, one hour away and a very scenic route. The hotel was also fully booked so must be popular.

I really loved how cozy and clean the hostel was — it felt like home! The staff and owner were super friendly and helpful. The only small thing is that it can get a bit quiet at night, but overall it’s a perfect place to relax.

There are so many locations to see.good peoples are around & very safe are. I like the place & the area.i had great time durig the vacation.I guess that threre is 1km around to the beach & also there is a logoon.i have experience the boat safari at the lake. I wish if i could stay few more days to enjoy.

A little town which is friendly colourful with plenty of shops for anything you need …only issue is that like every town in Sri Lanka there is a problem with waste ( plastic bottles)
There are several resteraunts and lots of lovely cake shops :-)
Everything is very cheap ..food , tuk tuk , train ..and clothes are an outstanding bargain to any visitor
Overall a lovely place for great holiday

Great beach, we felt like Robinson Crusoe on the beach, almost just the 2 of us. Visiting Mahdu Lake at 6 a.m. watching the sun goes up. A natural paradise with a lot of birds and other animals. Listening to their different noises. Dining at the Mangrove Cave Restaurant we enjoyed freshest seafood. It was just very tasty.

My favourite place was the turtle hatchery.
Most meals were eaten at the Hotel.
Very easy to get around. There is a tour agency opposite the hotel entrance, it cant get any better than that. It is easy to take tuk tuk or van taxis.
Superior beach front view. Beautiful gardens and swimming pool. Well done to the management and staff for this top class facility.
Local fishermen were easy to approach and social chat with.
