This place is a "pearl in the rough" ! It was like being in Bali twenty years ago with all it's rustic charm and eating the best Italian food out of Italy ! The owners could not do enough....the staff were friendly yet efficient. I celebrated a birthday there with a cake and beach bonfire....sublime ! And, a rarity, saw a beautiful Leopard on safari. Best birthday in 65 years !

This hotel is brand new, so everything feels clean, fresh, and modern. The facilities are excellent — each room has a lovely outdoor chill-out area, and the garden adds a nice relaxing touch. Swiss Bay is perfectly located right at the start of Arugam Bay’s main street. From the balcony, you can spot the elephant viewpoint where an elephant usually visits in the mornings and evenings. The beach is just a quick 2–3 minute walk across the road, making the location absolutely ideal. We stayed in the corner room with an L-shaped balcony, and it was just amazing. The room was spacious, comfortable, and equipped with all the facilities you’d expect from a top-notch stay. Even the bathroom stood out — we genuinely loved it. Everything matched the pictures and description perfectly, so you get exactly what’s promised. The caretaker and the owner were both incredibly warm and helpful, making us feel at home right away. They even allowed us a late checkout since our shuttle was leaving at 1 pm, which we really appreciated. On our last day, they treated us to a banana shake that was absolutely delicious — such a sweet gesture. If you’re considering booking this place, don’t hesitate — go for it! We’re already certain we’ll be staying here again.

    Location - Around 13 kms from Arugam bay. This place is perfect for the people who like it quiet and calm. And is right on the beach. Easy to reach using google maps. Sound of waves at night was like music to our ears. Rooms - We were in the room right in front of the pool. Not a luxury room but it was quiet, clean, spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was huge with 2 showers. Toiletries and towel provided. Pool - Clean and temperature controlled. Felt great. It also gives the vibe of an infinity pool with great views. Food - Food was great. Not a lot of different items but it tastes like a home cooked meal. Staff - Staff was friendly and we got a warm welcome. Kimi & Krish were really nice and helpful with all our queries. Parking space - We got the parking space for our toyota hiace in the property.

    I initially booked for 2 nights and then ended up staying for a week. Hassan was a fantastic host and was able to help with travel arrangements and plans. My room was comfortable and had a view of the beach from my balcony (the beach was about 15m away as the hotel is right on the beach). It's located far enough away from the point and busy end of town that it's nice and quiet at night but only about 15 minutes walk down the beach or main road to all busier bars. I would happily come back and stay here again for an extended stay. Compared with other places I stayed in Arugam Bay my room here was larger and to a much higher standard.

    Truly a wonderful place and a gem in Arugam bay! Surf & Sand felt like a home away from home for us. The room was spacious and clean, AC working well, quiet at night and the best thing was the cooking- we got a different breakfast set every day and we ordered dinner several times as well as it was delicious - best (and by far the biggest!) plate of Kottu we had in Sri Lanka. The host family helped us with everything we needed like taxi service for a great price. The location is perfect, a walking distance to the beach, restaurants cafes and shops. Thanks for everything, we had a blast and would come back in the blink of an eye!

    After almost 15 days in Sri Lanka, we stayed in JetWing Surf in a beachfront hut {No 18} and we had a great time. The hut was clean, the mosquito nets were large enough to be effective {a notable difference from other places we've stayed} and we had no issue with bugs. The staff was very attentive especially when we had an early morning safari planned. Our driver came to pick us up at 5:00 AM, and Pawan, our concierge, was there and thoughtfully provided us with a mini-fridge stocked with fresh juices and a basket of breakfast items to take along. Christmas dinner at the hotel was also exceptional.

    We loved our stay at this beautiful beach house, surrounded by beaches. It was so quiet there. We had the best walks and sunsets at the beach. Breakfast and dinner was very good. They even provided us with a breakfast bag to take with us when leaving for a safari at 4.45am. And laundry was done too (and it was never that clean and smelled so good on our trip. Staff was great. Thank you so much, would love to come back!

    You are more likely to meet a European than a local here.

    You are more likely to meet a European than a local here. This is definately not a reflection on Sri Lankan culture, however the beach town is slow and quiet (realtively speaking) and there are plenty of shops and restaurants. And of coure, the surf is consistent and the water warm. It's a winner for a beach holiday.

    The best feature of Arugam Bay is the surrounding jungle, lakes and lagoons. The main beach is very busy but other beaches, such as Peanut Farm are less crowded, Do thye Lagoon Safari and a park safari but also try surfing and relaxing on the beach.
