The hotel lies directly at the Gwangju Songjeong station, where the SRT trains stop (about 3-5 min walk) and there are several convenience stores nearby. Note that the location is not correctly displayed on either Google Maps or Naver, the hotel is actually on the other corner, just beneath the Aura hotel. You can check it with Streetview beforehand. The bus terminal is in reachable distance by local busses. The shower and jacuzzi were very nice, the staff very friendly and helpful, the rooms well equipped. Gwangju is the 6th largest city in Korea.
Gwangju is the 6th largest city in Korea. There’s plenty to do and see, but is definitely at least a weekend trip. However, there is something for everybody — whether you’re into hiking, history, shopping, or eating. Gwangju is also pretty spread out depending on what you want to do/see so plan accordingly and make note of where things are! I stayed in Gwangju for a week primarily to do an event with the world famous Koran Randonneur Cycling Club. A 600k Gwangju-Busan-Gwangju. The ride started near City Hotel which is also located near the bike paths along the river. While in Gwangju I visited the very excellent Gwangju Museum of Art and the Cemetery. Gwangju publicises itself as an arts and culture centre.
Gwangju publicises itself as an arts and culture centre. It has a fantastic national museum and an interesting modern art museum. A Famous K-pop star BTS J Hope) comes from there and there is a cool area with cool shops and restaurants. I would have stayed a couple more days to see some more things but my accommodation wasn't to my liking and I moved on. If you like history, culture and art you will find things to do and see in Gwangju.Guest review byJenniferAustralia
