They have a small reception in Nara city centre, and the lady who Works there is so sweet and nice. The bus collected me and my friend there, and took us to Mikasa, which is in a quiet and isolated area. The reception couldn’t be better. We had a member of their team showing us everything (I forgot her name, so sorry). We could choose a yucata, and then she took us to our bedroom,which was lovely and immaculately clean. We then had dinner - one of the highlights - which was beautiful and delicious. After dinner, we went to a tour at the mountains and the tour guide was lovely,and explained to us many things about the area. The following day we went to the hotel’s onsen and it was amazing. Breakfast was the best one I had in Japan. Mikasa was for sure one of the highlights of my trip. Thank you so much to everyone that made this experience unique. Nara is my favorite place in Japan.
Nara is my favorite place in Japan. It has really beautiful natural environment, lovely deer that you can easily see while walking on the street, and very friendly people. It has played a very important role in Japanese history (e.g. Horyuji, Toshodaija, etc. are important world heritage sites), but it does not have that many visitors as Kyoto, which makes traveling in Nara a lot more pleasant than travelling in Kyoto. I highly recommend people to travel to southern part of Nara Prefecture (e.g. Horyuji, Asuka-dera, Tsubosaka-dera, Oka-dera, etc.).Guest review byHSIU-CHUAN LIAOTaiwan - 10

i liked the Kashihara Jingu and the visit to various burial places of former tenno. on my last day, i visited the Omiwa Jinja; there is an observation hill where you could watch the sunset over Kashihara city. walking around town however, you can notice the signs of declining population and abandoned shops. there are a few good ramen shops in the area if you know where to find them, like Saika Ramen, highly recommended for its spicy flavour.Guest review byGaryIndia - 10

Nara is beautiful.
Nara is beautiful. There are two UNESCO world heritage sites and lots of deer. If you are afraid of animals, I don't recommend it. The deer will follow you if you have food and they may try to take it from you if you hesitate or don't gently push them away. They are not, as a general rule, aggressive. A lot of tourists freak out and just throw their crackers. Don't do that. Stay calm. The deer don't want to hurt you, they just want a snack. They don't care for being pet either. Just snap your crackers (200 yen sold at different stands) into 3-4 pieces, hold out your hand flat and let them take it from you. Be aware of how many are around you. They will surround and nibble your clothing. I found this hilarious. I grew up with cows and they will pretty much do the same thing. Use your voice and be gentle. The one day bus pass is really useful. I wish I had more time in Nara.Guest review bySarahUnited States
