But the lovely thing is that it provides shuttle bus services. So it was very convenient for me to visit various places around the area. The ryokan has a very spacious lounge where free drinks were offered, I had spent some time there during my stay, a very good place to read and write. The staff were great, everyone, warm and caring, that was the kind of courtesy and hospitality I expected. My room was perfect, clean, spacious and had an open view of the valley and the mountain. The hot baths, both the indoor and the outdoor ones, were excellent. I had been using the hot baths for several times and surprisingly met only few people. So I was really had the time to completely relaxing my mind and body. Finally, I was highly satisfied with the meals. The breakfast, Japanese set, was in good size and delicious. The dinners were excellent, far from my expectation and worth the value. The seafood was fresh with a good variety, from salmon, yellow tail, eel to some which I did not know their names. I fully recommended to try the teppanyaki because both the chef and the ingredients were excellent. Beef, seafood and the rice were delicious. So peaceful, relaxing and romantic. It was expensive at nearly 70,000 yen (approx $700 AUD) per night and we stayed two nights, but the experience was totally worth it. If you can, definitely get this room. The little town of Yamanakaonsen is only about a 15 minute walk and has a convenience store and other gift shops. We found a lovely spot down by the river. The staff were all excellent, as I have found in all Japanese hotels, but I want to make a special mention about a young Indonesian lady (Sushi) who waited on our table. She explained the extensive menu in Japanese to my Japanese wife and again in English to me. Her bubbly personality was a delight. The food was outstanding, top quality and plentiful. The entire stay was a pampering experience. The view from the room was amazing. Both dinner and breakfast were exquisitely prepared and served in private rooms. We had a 50 min private bath which was extremely soothing. There were small zen gardens, libraries in a corner, and cupboards full of yukatas of different colors and designs. Many bars and restaurants around. The hotel is 30 floors high with amazing view from the top floors and also has a great Launge on the 30th floor. Rooms are well equipped although a bit small. The seaside accomodation was just as advertised. The host was helpful and a delight. She made sure we had a lovely 2 nights there. Rooms were well presented and large with amenities that were first rate. The glass manufacture workshop and the glass museum were well woth the trip. The glass gallery is world class and the architecture special and suited to its location. The aquarium was disappointing. Kanazawa is a great city, very relaxing and walkable. People are very friendly and the restaurants are great. It was a great place to visit for a few days after Tokyo.
