- From US$82.91 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.3Very good - What previous guests thought, 1,824 reviewsExcrllent place to stay. JR and bus station is close, a nice cafe just next door, and the castle/garden or city museum can be reached with a 25-30mins walk. The room was larger than expected, so was the bathroom. We stayed many hotels in our weeks in Japan, but this was the best in its price range. Comfy bed, fresh towels every day - and it was quiet despite facing a busy street. Department store nearby and restaurant as well. All in all, I would love to stay here again - highly recommended. We stayed on the 2nd floor, facing the street.Guest review byMonikaIreland
- From US$211.39 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.7Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 2,856 reviewsOutstanding hotel, in a modernized building keeping nice original features, especially in the poolside restaurant. In the room, the toiletries are divine. The breakfast is nice too, based on sweet or salty crepes, with a nice selection of side verrines. The hotel is very conveniently located in the town center and at a walking distance from the memorial. Staff is also very nice and friendly.Guest review byGaëlleFrance

The hotel hotel itself and the whole bikan historical area is my focus this time. Everything within walking distance. Best under cooler weather. We could go back to the hotel easily to have a short break from the heat then get out again.Guest review byVeronicaHong Kong

Quiet, orderly place where the emphasis is on peace,...
Quiet, orderly place where the emphasis is on peace, forgiveness and rejuvenation. Was ironic to sit there and contemplate what is currently going on in the world. Amazing how much was left standing and conversely how much was destroyed. The stone marking the hypocentre is very understated. We had some very good Okonomiyake recommended from a Google maps review,in a tiny place that seated approximately 4 people but was delicious.Guest review byHeatherUnited Kingdom - 10.0

It isn’t a typical tourist destination from my understanding but the gardens by night are absolutely stunning. The casual is also beautiful and I’m sad to have missed the pottery class. Food and bars also exceptional - everybody is particularly friendly, and perhaps less used to accommodating tourists. Coffee: Empire coffee roasters. Friendly service and outstanding coffee. Food: Hidaya Yanigamachi. Grill your own delicious meat. Drink: ichigin. Super friendly and will involve you in conversations even if you don’t speak Japanese.Guest review byAlexUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Only spent one day at the end of our trip which was enough to basically shop and wander the historical area which I think is the main attraction anyway. Beautiful, scenic, clean, historic. And we loved Yoshii Ryokan in the heart of it all. Definitely worth a visit.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

Onomichi is a picturesque and walkable city with lots of charm. You can stroll the vintage shotegai, visit the art museum, enjoy a snack at Onomichi U2, take a temple walk, ride the ropeway, and of course, biking the Shimanami Kaido. The people are friendly and the food and shopping are great.Guest review byLindsayUnited States - 10.0

The main reasson to visit was the Itsukushima Shrine but there was plenty of other shrines and temples to visit. The ropeway to Mt, Misen was great. The hike down not so much (not a trail, mainly steps - hard on the knees.Guest review byDeanUnited States - 10.0
The tourist information Centre was great.
The tourist information Centre was great. Had good information and most. There is a loop bus to take you to the Castle and other points. The observation deck at the Bank was wonderful. The views spectacular of Matsue. Looked a tidy place, well looked after and comfortable to visit.Guest review byRogerNew Zealand - 10.0

Tottori is the Sand Museum (closes January 5, the sculptors, real world wide artists) come in, the Museum opens for Japanese Golden week. We have been going there every year, since 2013. Always staying at the APA hotel, Ekimai.Guest review byLouAustralia - 8.0

Silent small town, just next to the station you have castle, not that frequently operating local trains from this station. To reach Hiroshima I had to take a bus and could not find local trains. Shinkansen is available, so those who dont worry about Shinkansen prices then it is super easy.Guest review byRameshIndia - 10.0

We stayed here rather than on Naoshima island and took the short ferry across to the island. When we planned our trip, I had not factored in that many of the museums on the island were closed on a Monday and that some had to be booked for the Sunday. The benefit is that the onsen next to the Uno hotel is wonderful. You can be outside in one of the outside baths and at night gaze at the stars. We had a massage and a Japanese meal in the onsen and ambled happily back to the hotel. We delayed our planned departure to go the next morning after we had checked out of the hotel. We did not really explore the town itself but had a lovely meal in a restaurant close to the ferry building, overlooking the park and shopped in the big stores near the station.Guest review byBUnited Kingdom - 8.0

We thought our trip, which lasted 2 days was just about right, maybe one more day would have been good. We visited the bomb site and museum on the first day which is a must. The second day we had a trip to Miyajima island which was really worth the effort. We went over on a ferry using our Suica card which also paid for the train. We took the cable cars to the peak of the mountain. The famous temple gate in the sea was really worth seeing both at low and high tides.Guest review byJanUnited Kingdom
