- From US$95.65 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.6Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 715 reviewsAfter a long flight and a long train journey there is nothing better than a good, relaxing hotel which is just what we found ANA Crowne Plaza to be. The hotel is only 3 or 4 minutes walk from Akita station. Take the west exit and follow the covered walkway straight ahead and down an escalator. High up on the wall of a department store you will see a sign directing you to the main entrance of the hotel. Go up a short slope walk along the side of the store, turn the corner and you are there. Check in was very welcoming and we were able to get the key to our room with no problem. The room itself on a high floor of the hotel was spacious, clean and comfortable. The wifi worked well, but as far as I could see the TV only had Japanese channels. We had booked a club level room which gave us access to the lounge which until 1930 served generous canapés wine, beer spirits and a large selection of sake as well as soft drinks. We enjoyed both the food and drink which were top quality and retired to our room early for a much needed sleep. The bed was large and comfortable. The next morning we had a good breakfast again in the lounge and then checked out ready for the next part of our trip. An excellent stay and I would certainly recommend a Club Level room if funds allow.Guest review byPaulUnited Kingdom
- From US$577.20 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.3Very good - What previous guests thought, 380 reviewsThis hotel is in the middle of nowhere and right on the shores of Lake Towada. The room was extreamly spacious, had a big TV and also had a table and 2 chairs as well. The outdoor hot spring was amazing to go in and the views were brilliant. The restuant I only went in for breakfast and yes it was expensive, but the food was absolutely amazing. Really good location with local walks neaby and very peaceful location.Guest review byjadoon45United Kingdom
- From US$82.66 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.3Good - What previous guests thought, 560 reviewsThey provided us a suit room. There were two king size bed, and a separate living room in the room that we stayed. TV size was relatively small compared to the room size. After booking, I worried about car parking, but they had a machine parking system in the backyard, and front parking was also reasonable. They brought my car to the front park in the morning when my car was parked in the backyard machine park.Guest review bySANGEOKSouth Korea

We parked at Times Parking next to Crown Plaza hotel and the parking lot charged us 3200 yen for over nigh parking. We found not place to clarify why such high as the signage said maximum was 700 yen for over night. I booked a counter table in 长屋酒场, but they offered sitting on tatami with a few small tables... eating for 1-2 hours... just not comfortable. we left early and found not so good experience.Guest review byAnonymous - 6.0

The hotel itself has a good restaurant and nice baths. It also is in a very convenient location. The room was very small though, and the bed was not comfortable. Overall it has its use as a jumping off point for festivals or long distance travel.Guest review byCody - 10.0
Odate is the birthplace of the famous loyal dog Hachi.
Odate is the birthplace of the famous loyal dog Hachi. There're several tourist attractions connected to Akida dogs/ Hachi. Other than that, there's not so much to see within Odate itself, but I rented a car and was able to explore the surrounding areas by car. I also travelled to Hirosaki by train from Odate station, but as the trains are not very frequent, you need to check the timetable before travel. Overall I really enjoyed by stay here.Guest review byHuangxiaoUnited Kingdom - 10.0
This is an area with a lot of beautiful scenery.
This is an area with a lot of beautiful scenery. We stayed in Yasumiya and did not have a car. The area is reasonably well served by JR buses, which are covered by the JR pass. Six buses each day, both coming and going from Yasumiya, serve the Oirase Stream area and two other stops along the lake shore. In addition to exploring the Yasumiya area, we took the Lake Towada Sightseeing cruise from Yasumiya to Nenokuchi, walked along the Oirase Stream for a few hours then took the sightseeing boat back. The sightseeing cruise, which has a two routes: a loop from Yasumiya and from Yasumiya to Nenokuchi (they have a discount for round trip fare), is a really nice way to enjoy the lake. There are other hiking trails and places to see but we did not have time to explore them. There are several restaurants and coffee shops in Yasumiya, but not all are open and some have limited meal hours. There was only one spot in Nenokuchi for a meal (the JR Bus stop had some snacks). So being strategic about having snacks and planning meals around common meal times is a good idea.Guest review byKathleenUnited States - 8.0

My only purpose to come to Akita was to visit the Shrine of our Lady of Akita. The famous tears shedding statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary. I'm a catholic. That was my personal pilgrimage. I love Akita. People are polite and honest. They arr vwey helpful and try their best to communicate in English. The place is very clean and peaceful. I love to live here.Guest review byHelenPhilippines - 8.0
Kind of a sleepy town.
Kind of a sleepy town. Maybe I was in the more quiet parts but there didn’t seem to be a lot going on as far as nightlife. There’s some cool temples offering Goshuin, and lovely green parks great for strolling.Guest review byJohnUnited States
