One of Japan's six ancient kiln towns.
One of Japan's six ancient kiln towns. If you are into ceramics it's a brilliant place to visit. If you're not, it's a lovely, relaxed town with nice walks and good places to eat. Very close to Nagoya airport. There is a free shuttle bus into Tokoname or use the station. Home of the lucky waving cat - Maneki Neko!Guest review byCerysUnited Kingdom - 8.0

A lovely and medium-sized city, although there are not many scenic spots within the city, it is a wonderful stopover place for one night. It has a beautiful city park (豐橋公園) with pretty 500 Sakura trees. You may go visiting nearby famous temple 豐川稻荷 (妙嚴寺) and transfer to the scenic railroad branch line JR飯田線.Guest review byMAOTaiwan - 8.0

I was here 6 years ago and just recently came back. If you’re looking for the one piece thousand sunny boat, it is no longer there. It was a surprise delight when we first came here there is a conservation of the local eagles and you see them flying freely like a typical neighbor.Guest review byJashna - Jan dela CruzUnited States - 10.0

I came to see some historical sites in the local area.
I came to see some historical sites in the local area. One of them was Meiji-mura, which is located next to a lake, off the beaten path. The park contains a large collection of historical buildings relocated from around Japan, it's a very picturesque facility with lots of trees and the buildings are well maintained. The park is rather hilly, so it might be a challenge for anyone who has mobility issues, although it has train and bus service to help get from one end to the other. I happened to go on a weekday, and several of the restaurants were closed and the upper-level train wasn't running; anyone hoping to spend a day when everything is open and operating should verify in advance, but might want to plan to go on a weekend. My car navigation system delivered me to the north entrance (at the top of the photo of the map), which seemed to be a lesser used entrance; that said, I didn't make it to the other end of the park to see what was down there. As shown in one of the photos, the facility does a better job than most tourist sites in Japan of being multilingual, since the signs that explain each building are also in English, Korean, and Chinese.Guest review byTheodoreJapan - 10.0
Such a beautiful city. Surrounding burbs Awesome!
Such a beautiful city. Surrounding burbs Awesome! Put like this. Prada, Gucci, Lois Vitton, Armani, the list long. Why go to hectic Tokyo when Nagoya offers all the rich city life without the intensity of Tokyo. I was highly impressed. I have travelled a great deal. I liked this city better than New York, Chicago, Atlanta, LA. So beautiful, easy to navigate, wonderful to walk around. Surrounding burbs so beautiful! One last thought, all the US cities listed are dirty, trash laden, crime filled destinations. New York smells like a sewer, scaffolding that NEVER ENDS, piles of trash at night, a nighmare. I don't see this in Japan.Guest review bykoushirouJapan - 10.0

Nagoya is a really nice city, very easy to get around and much less crowded than the other big cities. There are a number of things to do such as, visit the huge planetarium, the Tokugawa gardens, the Noritake museum to see the beautiful ceramics. There are also Ghibli Park and Legoland for families and the castle is lovely. From Nagoya there is easy access to many other places such as Takeyama and Shirakawago.Guest review bymarkAustralia - 10.0

Toyohashi is only about an hour from Nagoya where we live, and yet most people we know have never been there! It's great for a weekend break or even a day trip. We enjoyed visiting a restored house from 1800 years ago, the castle, a plum orchard, the city hall exhibition of the unusual handheld firework made from a bamboo tree, and various other places. Our first visit was for two night, and then we went back for a day trip. We'll probably go again for the Natural History Museum a little way past Toyohashi.Guest review byStephen GosdenUnited Kingdom
