FAQs about hotels in Val Gardena
Dream Valley of the Dolomites
Situated between 1,250 and 1,550 metres above sea level, Val Gardena is part of the South Tyrol region of Italy. The Gardena River runs alongside it, surrounded by the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Dolomites. Populated by a Latin-speaking majority, its fabric mixes Austrian and Italian traditions.
Sasso Lungo Mountain (3,181 metres) is probably one of the most iconic symbols of the valley, while the Puez-Odle Natural Park also includes some of the highest peaks of the valley. A large part of Val Gardena hotels are in Selva, precisely because the town is located between the Sasso Lungo and the Park. Ortisei and Santa Cristina are the other 2 towns in the valley.
Val Gardena is also celebrated for the quality of its handcraftsmanship, particularly for the woodcarvers specialised in religious statuary. Nonetheless, it counts with beautiful refuges and restaurants located in the mountains, offering delicious meals accompanied with breath-taking views.
But it’s during winter that the valley offers its most renowned side: Val Gardena’s ski facilities are some of the best of Europe. The very fast Saslong World Cup track or the Sella Ronda are legendary.

- Scored out of 10, guest rating 7.9Good - What previous guests thought, 563 reviewsThis hotel is amazing! We loved our stay so much. The staff was very friendly and nice. Breakfast is delicious and a lot of choice what to eat. Lunch and dinner are available for separate small price. Highly recommend taking it, desserts were unforgettable. Hotel also provided us free bus tickets to Ortisei (so nice and convenient). The bus stop is 1min walk. The room is big, clean and had a nice view and a terrace. We would definitely book again once we are back to the valley.Guest review byAnastasiaHungary

- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.4Superb - What previous guests thought, 142 reviewsHotel Edda is excellent; great accommodation, friendly and professional staff, great food, pleasant atmosphere everywhere. The hotel manager is professional and resourceful in all situations. An excellent move is the hiring of international staff (I highlight the excellent waitress Danijela), because this contributes to a better connection with guests who are from various countries.Guest review byRobertCroatia
- From US$517.09 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.4Superb - What previous guests thought, 268 reviewsI think it would be very difficult to find a better hotel than Angelo / Engel, so extraordinary is the comfort offered and the quality of the service and menus. What's more, the fourth generation of the family that runs this hotel has managed to instil a spirit that is both respectful of past traditions and extraordinarily modern in the way it welcomes guests. What benevolence!Guest review byMikelkelSwitzerland
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 883 reviewsHotel Hell is a perfect location with ski in and out via a bunny hill that connects to main gondola. Just 2 blocks to center of town. But far enough from town center to be quiet. Room was huge, with view of slopes and town. Very nice spa area, ski locker room, and large lobby. In house restaurant is very good. Staff friendly, helpful....clearly love their job.Guest review byTerryUnited States

Because of the two gondolas accessible in town, we were able to explore both sides and experience a variety of terrain, none extremely challenging which worked for our various fitness levels. The views are stupendous and the convenience of the huts along the trails for lunch, a drink or even a break from the rain were fantastic. We didn't need to worry about packing snacks or lunches, and instead enjoyed reasonably priced, delicious meals along our hikes.Guest review byCarmenUnited States - 10.0

Great base near many cable cars to get up the hills and enjoy the walking and views. Free buses between all the villages is a great help and they run regularly. We stayed 5 nights and then went over to just south of Cortina for a further 5 nights which was a really good balance to explore different areas of the Dolimites with less driving.Guest review byFrederiqueUnited Kingdom - 10.0

A lovely town in the valley with plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants but also gave easy access up into the mountains via cable car/funicular. Also easy to get the bus to St Christina and Selva for other cables cars and walks. The Val Gardena mountains are simply stunning with plenty of great walking accessible from OrteseiGuest review byNicholasUnited Kingdom - 10.0
The town is the perfect location to explore the Dolomites.
The town is the perfect location to explore the Dolomites. Hotels and Apartments are plentiful and in every price level. You can choose from so many hikes (all different levels) you can fill 3 weeks. Depending what other locations are on your itinerary, 3 days allow you to see the highlights and get a sense of the beauty of the Dolomites. Yet, it's easy to fill a week. Summer like winter.Guest review byMichaelGermany - 10.0
We really enjoyed our stay in this holiday house!
We really enjoyed our stay in this holiday house! Great location – very close to the cable cars that take you to Seceda and Monte Pana in the beautiful Dolomites. The area is peaceful and scenic, perfect for a relaxing getaway. The hosts were very kind, welcomed us with gifts, and gave us great tips on what to see and do nearby. The house had everything we needed: brand-new beds, super comfortable mattresses, and the host kindly provided lower pillows upon request. Everything was very clean and well maintained. We stayed on the ground floor – although the weather was rainy, it was always warm inside thanks to the heating. A perfect place for both active holidays and peaceful rest – highly recommended!Guest review byAntanasLithuania - 10.0

There is something for everyone in Ortesei and it is a special family destination as well. We loved the summer climate, the cool crisp air, and the beauty of the amazing Dolomites. The restaurants were great, there was ample shopping, and the locals were warm, friendly and helpful. We did not have a car, but did not need one with the free bus system that was very efficient. The gondolas, funicular annd chair lifts took us to some great spots for hiking and the ambience in the Refugios was great!Guest review byBarbaraUnited States - 8.0

While Selva absolutely lived up to everything we had heard about how spectacular the Dolomites are, we unfortunately had no fresh snow. We'd made a very long trip from Australia to ski and snowboard, so it was disappointing. That said, we had decent cover and loved the long runs and apres venues. Completing the Sellaronda is one of the best experiences I've ever had on skis.Guest review byMelissaAustralia - 10.0

Santa Cristina Val Gardena is an absolute gem in the Dolomites. The town perfectly balances peaceful Alpine charm with great access to outdoor adventures. It's smaller and quieter than nearby Ortisei or Selva, which made it feel more authentic and relaxing, but it still offers everything you need — cozy cafes, excellent restaurants, and beautiful walking paths right from the center.Guest review byPaweł SadowskiPoland
