We stayed 3 nights at Casa22 and were absolutely delighted. We were welcomed with a very refreshing welcome drink, which was much appreciated given the heat. The decor is well thought out, the beds are incredibly comfortable, and the overall atmosphere makes you feel great. The rooms are very clean and pleasant. The staff is lovely and very attentive. The hotel offers bike rentals, which is very convenient for getting around the island. The breakfast menu is delicious and varied, allowing you to try something new each day. The presentation is also very nice. The hotel’s location is perfect—just a 5-minute walk from the port but far enough from the noisy party restaurants to let you enjoy the island’s energy without being disturbed at night. We highly recommend this hotel for your stay in Gili T, and we’ll come back for sure ! Emma & Bastien

Indonesia's Laid-back Lombok

A great alternative to busy Bali is lazy Lombok, a more authentic representation for tourists who wish to explore one of Indonesia’s more than 17,000 islands. It is separated from its naughty neighbor by the Lombok Strait to the east and from Sumbawa by the Alas Strait to the west.

Lombok is a typical island paradise of paddy fields, pristine beaches, jungle escapes and mountain retreats. It is largely inhabited by the local Sasak people with a small percentage of Balinese settlers.

Many hotels on Booking.com are centred around the capital of Mataram and the beaches stretching along the north-eastern coastline, including the sweeping bays of Senggigi. Medana Bay is another great northern location for people wanting to visit the nearby Gili Islands, a wonderful snorkeling location and nightlife choice.

Escape the tropical heat in the mountains surrounding Gunung Rinjani, an active volcano where tourists can break in their newly acquired trekking shoes. Other adventures abound on the southern surf beaches of Lombok.

Lombok International Airport is located 33 km south-west from Mataram and services daily flights mainly from Jakarta and Bali. This round-shaped island is approximately 80 km in both directions and offers plenty of variety for a great holiday.

    Our stay at Sempiak Seaside Resort was nothing short of magical. The location is unbeatable, right on one of the most beautiful beaches in Lombok. The resort itself feels like a hidden gem, perfectly nestled on the hillside offering stunning views from every angle. Our villa was private, spacious, and beautifully designed, with a big private pool that offered stunning views of the beautiful hills, it was such a peaceful and relaxing spot. The staff truly made our stay unforgettable. They were always smiling, attentive, and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. They even prepared & packed our breakfast for the last day since we left very early in the morning. Whether it was relaxing by the pool with its breathtaking views or enjoying the beachfront cabanas, every moment felt like a dream. The breakfast was fantastic, and the food at the restaurant was consistently delicious. We truly enjoyed every moment of our stay and can't wait to return!

    First off Anggar was extremely helpful prior to arrival. Had all in order for an easy stress free start to our visit I'm Lombok. All the staff are friendly and especially Icca who we see as our little Lombok daughter. Amazing service and welcoming. They went above beyond expectations. Healthy food and beverages and healthy living promoted. Pool villas are comfortable and nice. We were hesitant from bad reviews but really all it is is their elevator broke and they are building a new one. Not many stairs at all don't let it out you off. The place is great and the people are better. A few extra stairs never hurt anybody. Covid affected every one and they are doing great keeping it open.

    The villa is absolutely beautiful. The staff were incredible, so attentive, helpful and kind. The location of the Villa is a 15minute scooter out of Kuta which we found to be perfect. Everything we requested was provided, from scooter hire to booking surf trips Everything was seamless and taken care of. Photos don't do the views justice, simply breathtaking.     Staying in Gili T for 2 days was the best decision of our Bali trip! The whole vibe of the island is so cozy and calm. There are no cars, you can bicycle around the island or get a scooter. The beaches are beautiful and sunsets on the west side are breathtaking. You can order a drink and relax on beanbags on the beach while watching the most breathtaking sunsets!

    I loved how condensed the town was, everything was a short distance from each other. There were lots of nice cafes for breakfast as well as restaurants for lunch and dinner. We spent some days in Ekas which is very close to reach by boat, which gave us a nice balance between busy and calm.

    The perfect island for feeling the peaceful island vibes of gilli and a great spot for fresh fish grill food on the beaches and many more great diverse restaurants which will not disappoint!! There are also plenty of amazing warungs to eat local food. Best spot for snorkeling is at “Turtle point” on the East side of Gilli Air and sitting at Manta Taquiria for drinks and great food at great prices!!

    The local family who manage Green Haven Homestay are so welcoming and friendly. They will do almost anything to cater for travellers, for example I am 68 and wouldn’t have been able to do the 6 km walking tour up and down hills and uneven surfaces so they organised a motorbike tour which was great. The tour of the villages was also good and very interesting and informative to see the local market, pottery being made, textile weaving and bamboo weaving. There was a good variety of food and the family dinner was wonderful, so much delicious local food. The accommodation was suitable in a peaceful environment. I really enjoyed my stay.

Main beach Munah is buzzing with people holidaying and learning to surf With Warungs along the beach you can grab a board or a cold Bintang and enjoy the water Homestays are the way to go but there are also Also beachfront restaurants and resort style places. Beautiful surrounding areas and still quite enough to enjoy local farming I hope it stays this way and foreign resorts do not take over.

    Was exhausted after Mt.

    Was exhausted after Mt. Rinjani climb and this impacted on my exploration of the wider area, which I would've liked to have done more of. Also despite being officially the 'dry season', the weather was often overcast and rainy. I think had things been slightly different and I had had more time, the experience would have been better.. But still a lovely place that has less tourists than other parts of Indonesia.

    Strawberry picked was fun.

    Strawberry picked was fun. Look at google maps to find places with at least 5 good reviews to find somewhere to go. Hiking Pergasagan Hill and spending the night was amazing! Only thing to note though is that there are a lot of mosques here and they are VERY loud. We didn't get much sleep during our stay.

    Gili T is amazing, they call it the party island but as a coupole in our 50's we didn't find it too noisy or hectic - it had a great international feel to it & very chilled hanging on the beach during the days.
