room was very clean and big. Pearl Sunset was the best hotel we have stayed during our Bali trip. Staff were so friendly, Location was perfect for us (not in the center, but very peacefull side of Gili Island). Very good breakfast, good restaurants aroud hotel.

Fantastic experience! The hotel location is about 15mins away (horse carriage) from harbour, making it away from the pubs, offering a more tranquil and relax environment. It’s facing the beautiful beach, just across the street. The garden is well maintained. We even saw a wild deer enjoying his breakfast there in the morning. Oh have to mention the sun set view was superb! The staffs are very friendly and helpful. We stayed in the Cottage Rooms which were cozy and super clean, with Big and comfortable pillows! The breakfast had a few choices, and what we had was good. The free flow side dish was mainly pantry though (I would prefer more vege and fruits) Absolutely worth the money!!

Clean room, lovely ambience and relaxed. Fantastic staff. Food and drink good prices. Mini bar in room, same price as in the hotel and a good price. Free refill water. Bike hire reasonable. Gili teak was exactly the honeymoon I was dreaming of. We feel that it is the only resort in Gili Trawangan where we could have stayed (the rest of the island is more turistic and party-like). Beautiful front side beach, lots of trees, great music playlist, BEST SPOT for sunset, not too crowded. Good restaurant, open for breakfast, lunch, happy hour and dinner, with possibility of eating with your feet in the sand. We had a nice bungalow, with lots of flowers and two bicycles included to go around the island (very much needed!). Staff was incredibly kind, authentic and efficient, congrats to you all. There is also a pool, perfect for families. We recommend you to come here with no hesitation! It was truly beyond our expectations.

The most lovely staff will welcome you and take care of you in the best way for your stay here! The room is very nice and clean. The guys who cleaned our room made the most wonderful bed for us with flowers and a swan with towels💜 We loved the food, the breakfast and lunch/snack is amazing, the service is 10/10. We stayed 3 nights at Casa22 and were absolutely delighted. We were welcomed with a very refreshing welcome drink, which was much appreciated given the heat. The decor is well thought out, the beds are incredibly comfortable, and the overall atmosphere makes you feel great. The rooms are very clean and pleasant. The staff is lovely and very attentive. The hotel offers bike rentals, which is very convenient for getting around the island. The breakfast menu is delicious and varied, allowing you to try something new each day. The presentation is also very nice. The hotel’s location is perfect—just a 5-minute walk from the port but far enough from the noisy party restaurants to let you enjoy the island’s energy without being disturbed at night. We highly recommend this hotel for your stay in Gili T, and we’ll come back for sure ! Emma & Bastien

small haven of peace, so beautiful and relaxing that we even decided to extend our stay by two more nights, we just didn’t want to leave. Everything about this place is stunning: the design, the atmosphere, the comfort. It’s a newly opened resort, so all the infrastructure is brand new and super well maintained. You can really feel the care that went into creating this peaceful oasis. The staff is incredibly attentive and kind, always making sure you feel comfortable and at home. And I absolutely have to give a big shout-out to Hera at the reception: Warm, helpful, and always smiling. She truly made our stay extra special. Can’t recommend this place enough — if you’re coming to Gili Air, don’t miss this little paradise!

Indonesia's Laid-back Lombok

A great alternative to busy Bali is lazy Lombok, a more authentic representation for tourists who wish to explore one of Indonesia’s more than 17,000 islands. It is separated from its naughty neighbor by the Lombok Strait to the east and from Sumbawa by the Alas Strait to the west.

Lombok is a typical island paradise of paddy fields, pristine beaches, jungle escapes and mountain retreats. It is largely inhabited by the local Sasak people with a small percentage of Balinese settlers.

Many hotels on Booking.com are centred around the capital of Mataram and the beaches stretching along the north-eastern coastline, including the sweeping bays of Senggigi. Medana Bay is another great northern location for people wanting to visit the nearby Gili Islands, a wonderful snorkeling location and nightlife choice.

Escape the tropical heat in the mountains surrounding Gunung Rinjani, an active volcano where tourists can break in their newly acquired trekking shoes. Other adventures abound on the southern surf beaches of Lombok.

Lombok International Airport is located 33 km south-west from Mataram and services daily flights mainly from Jakarta and Bali. This round-shaped island is approximately 80 km in both directions and offers plenty of variety for a great holiday.

    Pearl of Trawangan is without a doubt the most beautiful hotel on the entire island. Everything was perfect: the hotel is stunning and well-maintained down to the smallest details. Breakfast was delicious and varied – the perfect way to start the day. One of the highlights is the private beach, reserved exclusively for guests. Peaceful, relaxing, and just steps away. The location is also ideal: right in the heart of the island but still quiet enough to fully unwind. I truly enjoyed my stay here, and if I ever return to Gili, I will definitely book this hotel again. A true gem on the island!

    Not probably,but for sure the best resort I have ever been too. Words and photos can't describe it enough. The rooms ,the overall resort, the pools , everything is amazing. Breakfast have everything for any type you will ever need. Bonus the excellent food in both of their restaurants (cliff is a must for dinner imo). Stuff is also always helpful and happy! Spa is really good ! And the most important beach is clean and beautiful! If you want to stay in Lombok 1000% recommended!

    It’s a small island and you can walk or cycle it.

    It’s a small island and you can walk or cycle it. There’s only horse drawn taxis or electric scooters and bicycles. The island has everything from quiet to party and great food. The beaches are lovely and we swam and snorkelled everyday. Saw turtles numerous times from the hotel beach as well as on group and personal trips which are really reasonable. It really is a great island.

    I loved how condensed the town was, everything was a short distance from each other. There were lots of nice cafes for breakfast as well as restaurants for lunch and dinner. We spent some days in Ekas which is very close to reach by boat, which gave us a nice balance between busy and calm.

    The perfect island for feeling the peaceful island vibes of gilli and a great spot for fresh fish grill food on the beaches and many more great diverse restaurants which will not disappoint!! There are also plenty of amazing warungs to eat local food. Best spot for snorkeling is at “Turtle point” on the East side of Gilli Air and sitting at Manta Taquiria for drinks and great food at great prices!!

    Stayed at tne katamaran hotel, stunning hotel with great food and provided a restful quiet break in stunning surroundings. Both restaurants on site provided great food. The spa was also gorgeous. The entire stay was heavenly! Alu at tne senggigi ferry port organised an amazing day snorkelling at three of the Gili islands. Paradise!

    The Gili Islands are truly a beautiful place, with crystal-clear waters. Especially Gili Meno, where you can escape the crowds of tourists and the noise of nightlife. But be careful — unfortunately, one of the biggest issues on the island is the litter left behind by tourists, which takes away some of the charm of these amazing islands. There are no cars here; people get around using electric scooters or small horse-drawn carriages. If you're looking for fun, head to Gili Air or Gili T.     The local family who manage Green Haven Homestay are so...

    The local family who manage Green Haven Homestay are so welcoming and friendly. They will do almost anything to cater for travellers, for example I am 68 and wouldn’t have been able to do the 6 km walking tour up and down hills and uneven surfaces so they organised a motorbike tour which was great. The tour of the villages was also good and very interesting and informative to see the local market, pottery being made, textile weaving and bamboo weaving. There was a good variety of food and the family dinner was wonderful, so much delicious local food. The accommodation was suitable in a peaceful environment. I really enjoyed my stay.

    Selong belanak is a charming location with friendly locals...

    Selong belanak is a charming location with friendly locals and great food! Main beach Munah is buzzing with people holidaying and learning to surf With Warungs along the beach you can grab a board or a cold Bintang and enjoy the water Homestays are the way to go but there are also Also beachfront restaurants and resort style places. Beautiful surrounding areas and still quite enough to enjoy local farming I hope it stays this way and foreign resorts do not take over.

    Was exhausted after Mt.

    Was exhausted after Mt. Rinjani climb and this impacted on my exploration of the wider area, which I would've liked to have done more of. Also despite being officially the 'dry season', the weather was often overcast and rainy. I think had things been slightly different and I had had more time, the experience would have been better.. But still a lovely place that has less tourists than other parts of Indonesia.

    Strawberry picked was fun.

    Strawberry picked was fun. Look at google maps to find places with at least 5 good reviews to find somewhere to go. Hiking Pergasagan Hill and spending the night was amazing! Only thing to note though is that there are a lot of mosques here and they are VERY loud. We didn't get much sleep during our stay.

    If you are over 35, or a couple, this island may not be for...

    If you are over 35, or a couple, this island may not be for you. Gili T is more for partying and Instagram people. The centre of the village is just crammed with horse carts, ebikes, bicycles and people. It is not really very relaxing to stroll around. Prices are higher than everywhere else (e.g. Bali or Gili A). At night it is just a mass of people drinking shots, and partying hard. EVERYONE is there to take pictures of themselves. So there are all these strange activities, like a sunrise paddleboard tour that lasts about 15 minutes (sole purpose is to take photos) or sunset horseback riding that takes 10-15 minutes (sole purpose is to take photos). No one hangs out and just vibes - it's all about the photos. I am also aware that Gili T is a muslim island and the swim suits that women were wearing were just indecent. I just wonder what the locals think about it. But the island itself, the diving, the snorkeling, the turtles are all great. The locals are fun and very cool. Honestly, there is nothing that can be done about the tourists... everyone is obsessed with photographing themselves these days and showing off their bare bottom.
