- From US$97.60 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.8Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 502 reviewsNestled into gardens befitting its name, Lush is somewhat of a sanctuary among the sanctuaries in San Marcos. It is fairly quiet and most of the guests respect the 10pm quiet-time. Our cave room was very atmospheric. I love the natural rock incorporated into its layout. The only downside of this is that the roof in the bathroom and doorways were painfully low. If you are above 6 feet tall I would advise choosing a different option. A bit more packing space for luggage and clothes would not have gone amiss either. Lush is on the edge of town by the nature reserve. It is nevertheless only a 4 or 5 minute walk from everything in the main strip. The Lush restaurant also has a great airy vibe. The food is quite expensive compared to some of the excellent lunch and dinner options available in San Marcos. Even considering that San Marcos is a fair bit more expensive than the other towns on Lake Atitlan.Guest review byIlseSouth Africa
- From US$272.08 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Superb - What previous guests thought, 116 reviewsWhat a fabulous stay! We absolutely loved our experience here and after doing a lot of research believe it may be the nicest property on the entire lake. Facilities were beautiful with stunning views from the rooms and infinity pool. Staff were world-class, always smiling, energetic, friendly, and ready to say yes. They truly went above and beyond. Bartender Cristian is the best! Our upgraded room was spectacular and newly remodeled with a beautiful tub overlooking the lake. Breakfast, dinner, and drinks at the pool bar were all excellent. The hotel also arranged for a great couples massage, laundry service, and a private boat tour of the lake. Thanks so much and we will be back!!Guest review byAlexanderUnited States
- From US$398.27 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Superb - What previous guests thought, 141 reviewsThe property was without doubt one of the most aesthetically considered hotels we’ve been to. The decor (from the artwork to the furniture to the cutlery) was beautiful and incredibly detail oriented, with a local Guatemala / Mayan theme. The setting was even better, with great views over the lake and nicely nestled into the hills. The staff were fantastic and couldn’t do enough for you. Definitely visit Casa Palopo if you’re visiting Atitlan.Guest review byAlexanderUnited Kingdom
- From US$95.03 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Superb - What previous guests thought, 289 reviewsIt’s paradise, not in a five star showy kind of way but in a wholesome, immersed in nature kind of way. I’ll miss the lovingly prepared breakfast overlooking the spectacular lake and mountain views and the luscious gardens set with a solar panel for the pool and veg garden for the organically homegrown food. The sweet staff make the place too. It’s off the beaten track in a non touristy part but that’s core to its charm.Guest review byIzzyUnited Kingdom

Pana is a bustling friendly town with lots of shops, cafes and restaurants as well as accomodation to suit all budgets. It is also a transportation hub for getting around Guatemala. The old part of the town (Jucanyá) is worth a visit for its lake front and views. Pana has a great market too. You can travel to other parts of the lake easily from the main dock. Tuks tuks can transport you around the town quite cheaply. I recommend Circus Bar for great pizza and lunches/dinners. The main town can be a bit noisy, so choose your accomodation carefully or bring ear plugs.Guest review byJoUnited Kingdom - 10.0

We enjoyed San Pedro. it was picturesque with the beautiful lake and mountains. It was walkable, also easy to get a TukTuk. If you walk up the hill into the village, you get past the tourist streets and see local life. There are plenty of restaurants and shops. Many of the restaurants had seating that looked out over the lake. The souvenir market sellers are not pushy. We went to a Mayan museum, Tzunun' Ya'. It was informative about the formation of the lake and the traditional life of the Mayan people. We didn't see sandy beach areas to throw out a blanket and sit by the lake.Guest review bySusanUnited States - 10.0

It's a very unique place, it's safe, peaceful compared to other lakefront communities. Food choices galore, especially for Vegans and Vegetarians. Most people living in the area are very concerned spiritually and organically. Chocolate and Coffee are to die for!Guest review byDavidCosta Rica - 10.0

We were a group of six over 55's off on a great adventure. San Juan la laguna gave us so many things to do and see. we hired a local guide to talk to us about the spectacular murals and artist in town. we hiked the mirador. toured a honey farm. enjoyed serval meals. One that stands out was the Cafe Alma De Colores. it promotes social inclusion of people with disabilities. they also have a wonderful gift shop, with handcrafted items that support this population. visiting the street of sombras and the steert of umberellas. Lovely community . friendly warm and welcoming.Guest review bySherlock - 10.0

The town is up a steep hill so be prepared for some exercise or take a tuk tuk! Gorgeous views! Take a cooking class there like we did! Laid back town, not a lot to do or many restaurants, but a more authentic town that supports its Mayan locals with local wares and cuisines.Guest review byStaceyUnited States - 8.0
The market is fabulous for fibery things.
The market is fabulous for fibery things. Backstrap looms, cotton weaving yarn, and finished yardage and garments. NOT touristy, hard to find coffee before ten a.m., and very little English-speaking. It's a noisy and bustling center for locals (rural Mayans). The shops and the market are a bonanza if you are a fiber tourist. If you're looking for an idyllic green and quiet oasis on the lake, you need to look to the outskirts of town, or hop on a ferry to one the many smaller, more tourist oriented communitiesGuest review byLynUnited States - 10.0
Nice lakeshore village.
Nice lakeshore village. Not much to do in the village itself, but it is very close to San Catarine, which is of the same type and Panajachel which is much bigger and full of tourism attractions. The advantage of San Antonio is quiet location, not much traffic and great sceneries. The village has quite unique cobalt shore promenade along the whole village. Travel by car o boat to Panajachel is not expensive and easy. One may order lake boat trip starting from the village itself.Guest review byYuri CheCanada - 8.0

This is the main hub on Lake Atitlan, with all the pros and cons that come with that. There is a great viewpoint on the lake and a few fully stocked grocery stores. If you are spending any significant time at the lake it is likely that you will make multiple stops here for supplies. The main street, Calle Santander has a good selection of restaurants, and there are handicraft shops scattered all around. A good hub - there are better sights around the lake, but this is where the most things are conveniently concentrated.Guest review byGregoryUnited States - 10.0

EquiRoast on 1A Calle close to the water opens not only at about 6:30/7 am but also has Caleb , the owner , who will offer a mind boggling amount of ways to make your coffee and also has nice , bitter DARK ROAST coffee !
