We stayed at Oro Suites in a pool apartment in early May 2025, and it was one of the best vacations we've ever had. The apartment was perfect: newly renovated with a modern design, spotlessly clean with regular cleaning, an incredibly comfortable bed, and high-quality bathroom fixtures. It was quiet and peaceful at night, and the courtyard with the pool felt cozy and private. The breakfasts were delicious, fresh, nice and generous, with the option to choose items to your taste. The suites are located right on the seafront, so the sea view is good— but its only relevant if you plan to spend time in the room - cause the beach is just like a few steps away, as are 3–5 local restaurants in Kini that are good too. The village itself is charming and cozy. There isn’t much to see within Kini itself, but it’s a great base for exploring other attractions: chapels, ancient ruins, or the island’s main town. But the absolute highlight of Oro Suites is the brothers who run it — truly kind, cheerful, and helpful people who assisted us quickly with every one of our many questions, whether about the room, transportation, or the area. Highly recommended — it’s a 100 out of 10!

This is possibly the best hotel I have ever stayed in in a long life of travelling. My room was well designed, clean and very comfortable. The breakfast was excellent with careful attention to detail. Every member of staff was friendly and professional. I especially appreciated the home made lemonade I received on arrival. I have been visiting Syros for 40 years and if you are looking for a beach holiday, Finikas is the place to stay ! Lots of excellent places to eat and very good public transport connections. The hotel had thought to include a bus timetable in my room and an electric kettle so I could make a much needed cup of tea. What a pleasure to stay in a hotel that really thinks about the comfort of its guests.

We stayed in a beautifully designed and thoughtfully decorated room. The king-size bed was exceptionally comfortable — a true pleasure to sleep in. You can really feel the care and attention to detail that the owners have put into every aspect of the property. The location is perfect, just steps away from the main square of Syros. Absolute 10/10 — highly recommended! Thank you for everything; we will definitely be back. Also, the breakfast was absolutely incredible — a perfect start to each day.

I very much enjoyed my stay at 6 Roosevelt Str. So much so, I extended my stay. The property is an historical home in Ermoupolis that has been tastefully and carefully restored and converted into a boutique hotel. My room was air conditioned, clean and spacious with a beautiful high ceiling and a large, modern bathroom. The fresco painted on the ceiling was so lovely. The soundproof window completely blocked noise and light if required. The bed was extremely comfortable and my room was cleaned each day by the lovely staff of the hotel. Staying at this boutique hotel provided a taste of old Ermoupolis (which is a placed steeped in history), but with all the modern comforts of a hotel. There was common access to the beautifully restored kitchen which was fully stocked with cold drinks, coffee and water. Nikos was the consummate host. He provided great local information including recommendations for museums and restaurants and answered all my questions about the island and its history. He spoke impeccable English and was always polite and friendly. The location of this property is great. It is a short walk to the beautiful swimming spots and I went swimming twice everyday. It is a short walk from the ferry port and only a very slight incline in the walk. The property is maybe a 30 second stroll to the nearby restaurants and shops. I highly recommend this property as a place to stay for solo travellers or couples and I will be sure to return.

The Queen of Cyclades

Located in the middle of the Cyclades, the Greek island of Syros is the administrative centre of the region. Having a large Catholic population, this charming island features unique beauty, fertile plains and beautiful beaches.

The capital of Syros and the entire Cyclades, Ermoupolis, is an impressive amphitheatrically built town with old mansions, marble paved streets and lovely hotels. Named after the Greek God of Commerce, Hermes, it has a number of imposing churches, like Agios Nikolaos.

Constructed by Ernst Ziller, the Neoclassical Town Hall of Ermoupolis is one of the most impressive town halls in Greece. You can relax under a palm tree or enjoy a loukoumi (the Greek version of the Turkish delight sweets) in one of the beautiful cafes at Miaoulis Square. Built by the venetians, the medieval Ano Syros is the 2nd town on the island and the Catholic area district of Hermoupolis. The Catholic Cathedral of Saint George is the highest point of the city and no vehicles are allowed in the settlement.

    We had a lovely stay at Dolphin bay resort. Our room was spacious with spectacular sea view terrace. It’s a great location, good distance to the beautiful beach, mini market, souvenir shops and restaurants even closer. Hotel and restaurant staff was amaizing, thank you all! Room is well equipped. Great space for couples, also kids have lots of space in the hotel, including swimming pool and a play ground. Air conditioning worked perfectly (a necessity in the heat!). We came to Syros as part of a 100+ wedding party and we were able to see some of the other accommodations - Dolphin bay will still be our first choice. - after the third time here!

    Aphrodite was very helpful with the checkin and directing me from the ferry port. Its just a 6-8 minute walk, though there are stairs up to the property which might be a problem with luggage. Though i did see the owners helping people. The room was perfect for me. The location was close to everything in the town. The reception is not available all the time and you need to let yourself in/out. I had a great stay at a very good price. Its not a new property but is well kept.

    Everything was perfect! Anna Maria, her family & her staff were all so kind, generous and helpful. The hotel is great, well-eqipped and extremely clean. It is right on the beach, which is also managed by the hotel, so you have everything you need within a reach. The breakfast was delicious. We truly enjoyed our stay and can't wait to come again next year!!! If you come here, you will definitely have a wonderful time!

    Exceptional property. Very comfortable beds. Very clean. I was really impressed. The food is wonderful. I enjoyed some wonderful breakfasts on the terrace, snacks on the beach and chilled with wine and Fred fruit on my balcony. The Agathopes beach is perfect. It’s a beautiful and safe beach.     Pino di Loto is a real gem on Syros Island. The whole staff (Terezdina, Andreas, Wilma, the cleaning crew and the cats) has been so welcoming and kind! Be it the lovely breakfast on the terrace with everything we needed and more, or all the helpful tipps and hints for activities/restaurants etc. They made us feel like friends and family! We will definitely come back when visiting Syros again!

    The buzzy Syros town which is full of boutiques, shops, supermarkets - all facilities and, of course, lots of bars and restaurants either in the little streets or along the bay. It is a truly beautiful and historically significant famous town and port with ornate marble civic buildings and churches, houses and hotels.

    Fantastic place to stay and unwind.

    Fantastic place to stay and unwind. The beach is great for swimming, shallow and sandy. Close enough to the central town of Ermoupoli boasting some really fantastic sights and great eating places, a must to visit. Galissas is on my list to stay on my next holiday when I visit Syros Island.

    Kini is a delightful small town.

    Kini is a delightful small town. We visited in low season and still had the use of three excellent restaurants, one located ON the beach, which was our favorite spot for the holiday. The main joy was swimming with the many shoals of fish, so snorkel and mask are recommended. The old part of the town is extremely scenic, with many small-holdings with goats, donkeys and 5000 cats to make friends with. We were delighted by what Kini had to offer in late October, and it was a perfect low-season base outside Ermopouli. Well serviced by busses, Best to ask a local where they stop because it's not well signposted, but they are regular, prompt and cheap.

    Lovely place by the sea with all the comforts. It is a place for families, not for a teen-ager. It is very good for anyone over fifty looking for clean beach, comfort and no hassle. There are three restaurants, two bars, free car park and it is ten minutes drive from Ermoupoli. You can get a bus every hour to go to town.

    Peaceful friendly location, a shadow of its former self however green shoots for the future evident, the services that remain are perfect for a peaceful get away with a wide shallow sheltered bay that gently merges into the crystal clear blue waters. However for a more sophisticated yet more affordable experience a short walk to Achalida a smaller beach formed around a little harbour where you will find Emily’s Hotel and beach cafe a family run establishment serving great lunches snacks and drinks at reasonable prices with a warm welcome for all including non residents, it is clear why so many people return year after year. At the other end of the beach you will find a higher end restaurant that serves fine dining and a good range of cocktails and local beers.

    Ano Syros, located within what used to be a medieval castle, is just an amazing place to use as your base in Syros, if you do not mind the uphill steps that is. The narrow cobbled streets, the fortress architecture along with a variety of bars and bistros really create a great experience. And the views are just breathtaking!

    If you do not drive then access by bus is spotty, especially in later months of season. Also beware that if you go later in season, the mini market nearby might well be closed. Nearest shop after that is 1.5 miles away, but it is open on Sunday.

    A beautiful place to stay- an elegant and stylish city with wonderful restaurants and bars. It is easy to access other parts of The island and we loved the proximity of the beaches right in the town itself. We also took the bus to Kini beach which was amazing.

    If you enjoy a relaxed and 'back to nature' type of holiday, you will love Galissas. There is a bus service to take you to the main town of Ermoupoli if shopping is 'your thing'. Though it gets quite hot and humid in the main town. Galissas has a small supermarket, restaurants, bars, coffee shops, chemist....everything you need. The beach is a short walk from most apartments and if need to take a short drive there's plenty of free public parking.

    Kini is a small fishing town, only 20 mins by bus or taxi from the main port/city. The bus leaves Kini once an hour, check the schedule at the centre of the strip and cost €2 and is very efficient and safe. Kini itself is set up of approx 7/8 restaurants, 2 shops and a couple nice bars and a very good bakery called vitimin sea. Very chilled and relaxed, not touristy like some of the other beaches and no music etc. Would highly recommend visiting Kini for a more relaxed vibe and has the most incredible sunsets.
