The thought and design that went into it is with function and sustainability in mind amongst the old wine tanks of its former glory. Staff were absolutely top notch and wonderful. Our room was super well appointed and comfortable. We had a chance to have drinks at sunset which was a highlight! The breakfast was delicious and generous. Go when not so crowded or hot. We did well at end of September. I highly recommend if you have a car to do a free Olive Oil tour & tasting at OILYPIAN Koufolias Olive Oil Mill about 15 min away from town. I also loved OLYBEEA for family run local honey which you may sample before you buy! Have a meal up the hill (you can walk but best with car) at The Garden :) You will dine under olive trees & get a great view. We were on a "pilgrammage" of sorts intended to seek out our familial origins and were travelling by a rented vehicle from Eurocar which we picked up at the Athens Airport. This was a major winner for us! Take your GPS with you and enjoy the encredibly well organized motor ways that would best be described as excellent in every way. Kyllini was easy to find just off the West Coast and in good striking distance for other sites. It is a port city, really, with Ferry traffic to the Islands which could have made it noisy and unpleasant. However, such was not the case with super restaurant facilities and the Greek Pastries in the local shops were simply scrumptious. Have fun!Guest review byChristopherCanada - 10

Great location, if you have a car, to get to Olympia. Lovely town square with great selection of restaurants to eat at - mainly Italian themed as opposed to Greek. It’s a very remote town.
It’s a very remote town. A very long and tiring drive to get there, and not much to visit. The town is just average and all the restaurants were closed in April. Nice scenery and very nice people. Katakolon is the main port for cruise liners where guests are visiting Olympia and seems geared up largely for this purpose. It is quite a pleasant seaside town but nothing exceptional. When we were there there were no cruise ships in port and it was very quiet. All of the seafront restaurants and bars were open so we had our pick, but a lot of the shops were close for most of the time we were there.
