We love Athens, this is our third visit.
We love Athens, this is our third visit. It is a paradox of history, charm and conflict, just like all of Greece. It is a city which screams about the struggle of the human species, full of defiance in defeat.Guest review byCatrinaAustralia - 10.0
The port and old town are stunning.
The port and old town are stunning. Make sure you explore all of it, as there is quite a lot to see. There are plenty of restaurants and bars and the harbor area is so pretty. We stayed on the west side of Chania and walked in, past Neo Chora beach which again has some great restaurants and bars and a pretty outlook. The only downside is if a cruise ship or two comes in, then the town is packed. But we were ok with as went in plenty of times when no ships were in. We visited mid September, weather was perfect, 27-28c during the day and 22 - 24c in eve. very comfortable time to visit. If you're a beach babe, then west of Chania, past Neo Chora beach (which is nice, but lots of busy sunbeds and not a large area) there is Kladissos beach. There is a beach club there called Zamana. Loved it here, good comfy beds, well spaced out, great food and service. Pretty outlook. two sunbeds and parasol 15 euro for the day. Same prices as in Neo Chora. We also had a car and went to Falassarne Beach on the west coast for a day. About 1 hour drive. Loved it there too but sunbeds very expensive, min 30 euro maybe more, so do your research. There is a season in Crete, Most of the beach clubs will close for the season at the start of October as well some businesses. Something to keep in mind if you are looking to travel later in the year. Final note, petrol is really expensive on the island, 1.80 euro per liter. First time to Crete and won't be our last.Guest review byRobertUnited Kingdom - 8.0
As an Australian I didn’t come for the beaches….
As an Australian I didn’t come for the beaches…. Ours are first class but the sea water is more beautiful and crystal clear in the Mediterranean and Adriatic. The town itself is unique with quaint cobbled alleyways and restaurants everywhere and shops. It’s European style . Summer must be a nightmare with all the tourists so September for us was great, still warm and good weather. The bus routes are on opposite sides of the waterfront. One bus runs that way and the other ,the other way …… hope that makes sense. One leaves from the old port and the other from Fabrika square . Plenty of hired scooters or quad bikes available to explore the island . My first impression was not favourable but the next day had a better impression and enjoyed the two days in Mykonos . Long enough for me . We stayed in a beautiful hotel at the top of the hill called hotel Damianos … beautiful beautiful hotel , lovely breakfast, super friendly staff , lovely pool area and very reasonably priced . Would highly recommendGuest review byBelinda GAustralia - 6.0
The town was buzzing and full of life.
The town was buzzing and full of life. Some excellent restaurants (peskesi a stand out) Beaches were stunning especially when blessed with perfect summer weather. BUT, the traffic is terrible, parking is difficult, road-rules are optional and the lane-ways are very narrow. Visiting Knossos is an absolute must.Guest review byGeorgeAustralia - 8.0

Fira is a great town full of varied shops and fantastic places to eat. It can be expensive so plan a little extra money for food though! There are plenty of things to do an see in the town and the public transport to other areas of the island are quite frequent and cheap. There are lots of steep inclines and stairs so keep that in mind, you'll be doing a lot of walking up hillsGuest review byLawson - 2.0

Naxos Chora is a wonderful place to visit for a short while.
Naxos Chora is a wonderful place to visit for a short while. The older/medieval part is a labirinth of alleys, well worth wandering around and discovering art galleries and shops hidden away. The front is full of taverners catering for all tastes, but it can get very busy. Alternatively you can walk away from the front to have a calmer meal in one of the excellent family taverners. St Georges beach is nearby, a nice sandy bay, with a long slope out into the sea. There is easy access to the ferry terminals, but a taxi will be required to get to and from the airport.Guest review byIanUnited Kingdom - 8.0
The city itself has everything you could ever need and more.
The city itself has everything you could ever need and more. prices are fair and its stunningly beautiful. A city can be beautiful and full of wonderful things to see and do, but its always the people that make your stay. i expected Tourist Fatigue by the time we went in September. But everyone we met was gracious helpful warm and kind.Guest review byColetteUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Kos is a fascinating town with ancient Roman ruins everywhere and a great selection of shops and restaurants! Avoid the strip along the beach where it’s quite gritty and scruffy, we got the bus most days to other beaches as we got a bit sick of the busyness of the town. If we return we will stay in Kardamena or Kefalos insteadGuest review byTerryUnited Kingdom - 8.0

As it’s built into the mountains, reasonable mobility is desirable, however it is disable friendly and the taxis are cheap, On site there are lots of steps and inclines to the facilities, as well as lifts, but I’m sure a persons needs could be accommodated to all the pools and restaurants. I’m 71 and managed to walk into town/star beach ok, enjoyed the exercise tbh! Overall the hotel is brilliant for families with children of all ages. I would go back for sure! The town is superb, so much choice for eating/drinking out, shopping good, usual touristy stuff! People are friendly and very helpful.Guest review bySue moUnited Kingdom
