The bathroom was sleek and modern in style with excellent water pressure in a large shower. The sink and counter were large, clean, well lit. Towels were large and smelled good. The staff at Motel One were extremely professional, warm and friendly and so accommodating! While this hotel is only three stars, I found it was more aligned with five star properties I have stayed in throughout Switzerland and other parts of Europe. I was so impressed with the overall experience, I would consider routing myself through Basel again on the near future…and will add more time onto the visit to enjoy this great hotel, it’s superb service and staff and it’s great location in this fantastic city!Guest review byDavidUnited States

The hotel has ideal location everything is within walkable distance, there are stores around and cafes as well. The room when entered was spotless clean, room cleaning was not that bad either. The room is definitely not soundproof, but if you plan to be out all day and just sleep at night, works perfectly well. Everything is silent after 11:00pm. The cleaning starts at 9:00am, so if you prefer to sleep till late hours maybe not best option. Staff very nice and helpful. Hotel provide Basel card which is simply life savor! FREE transport within Basel city and almost 50 % discount on all museums. Room not spacious, but enough for 1 person. Rooms are quite comfortable, with some antique furniture that is meant to refer to the castle next door. It is located in a small park where it is nice to have a short walk. The neighbourhood is also quite picturesque, with all necessary shops and restaurants a few minutes away. The parking is right next to the hotel, very convenient and inexpensive. The decoration is practical and has all that we need including a fan. The lounge’s simple coffee, croissant and apple is just nice for breakfast. The hotel offer free Basel pass to use the public transport. My friend forget her wallet with cards and some foreign currencies in the safe. We contacted the staff and they kept it for us and it was returned with everything still intact. Thank you for your professionalism and integrity. The room also had a mini bar (with a few drinks) and that was for free of charge. On the top of that, we had an amazing breakfast with garden view. Basel is a wonderful city to explore, and I highly recommend discovering it on foot – the architecture is beautiful and everything is within easy reach. Public transport is excellent: the buses are always on time and very clean. Just make sure to carry some cash with you, as card payments (POS) are not available on buses. A walk along the Rhine riverfront is a must, offering a relaxing and scenic experience.
