During the day, you can watch the boats drifting by, and at night, the lights of the village give off such a peaceful, magical vibe. It’s located on a small island, which makes it super calm and relaxing. There’s even a little farm! It’s eco-friendly, pet-friendly, and Zaazouaa (the sweetest welcome committee ever) greets every guest as they arrive.

Host Abu picked us up on arrival, organised a free sunset tour (just tip the guide at the end). We also booked transportation to Abu Simbel and Luxor at a very reasonable price through Abu, in very comfortable cars. We were able to use the washing machine for free, there is an equipped kitchen to use. Food is very tasty. Beautiful rooftop restaurant.

We opted for the taxi service and were met at the airport by a lovely person (sorry, I’ve forgotten all names!) who got us there while pointing out all the local sights. On arriving, what a lovely place! Artika feels absolutely serene, you have the Nile right next to you, and it’s all so quiet. Food was absolutely delicious (with fantastic vegetarian and vegan options), and the drinks were great too. Everyone working was absolutely lovely, and so helpful and caring. Always willing to help with anything you could possibly think of or need. Blissful. They had a few really cute and friendly dogs and puppies as well, but were also always ready to move them away for someone in our group who was scared of dogs. Rooms were really spacious and the beds are huge! Overall, an absolute pleasure to stay here, and would love to come back again! Thank you so much for everything, to all the staff at Artika.

The room and bed are comfortable, and the overall design has a charming Nubian style. The shower and heater both work well, and the water pressure is amazing—which is something I really appreciate. The amenities are basic, but they do the job and actually exceed expectations considering the price. Yes, this place is a bit “far” from the center, but that’s exactly why I chose it. It’s located in a local Nubian village, and from the moment you step outside the hostel, you get to experience authentic local life. If you’re okay with traveling 20–30 minutes to the West Bank for your tours, and returning in the evening via a rougher road to enjoy a quieter, more peaceful atmosphere, then this is the place for you. I even walked along the Nile at night to the market and nearby restaurants—about 15 minutes—and I never once felt unsafe. The village kids are happy and playful, and the community is warm, helpful, and tightly knit. It’s clear that everyone looks out for one another, which makes you feel welcome and secure.
