It was the end of the rainy season and everyone in town was busy with renovations for the upcoming high season. It is a family business and the hosts are very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Ciza is a professional, very knowledgeable and passionate tour guide and Rose is an excellent cook. When booking, I did not inform them of my dietary needs (very sorry) and they were able to accommodate me on the spot, which I appreciated very much. I decided to extend my stay for another 2 nights because I really enjoyed it and there are many things to explore. I would recommend not only staying at Ciza&Rose, but also letting them organize the hiking activities for you so that you get the most out of your vacation in Portela.

TCHAN LOVe is a recently renovated bed and breakfast in Portela, where guests can make the most of its garden and bar. This property offers access to a terrace and free private parking. The rooms include a balcony with views of the mountain. This is a very nice place to stay for couple nights. Quiet, comfortable. Breakfast was included and I have asked for it at 6am, so the Lady just left it from the evening (coffee in a termopot). Also you can ask for a dinner, which is really good, super tasty (Ive got a fish with rice and veggies for 900 escudo). And also you can ask for some wine (industrial or craft homemade, about 200 per glass). The place has not many reviews but it's seems super new, means you will have also super new bathroom which is nice bonus for staying. As for the transfer: you can book the place in Alluger with the room booking. The way from Sao Filipi is 50-60 mins and costs 1000 escudo. As for the trekking: 1. The location is the best, right next to the start of few trekking routes 2. You can ask the owner for a guide, just ask for someone local who is actually based here in Caldeiras and not in Sao Filipe. As for the Pico Grande you will definitely need a guide because it's super tricky route. For the Pico Grande the usual price is 6000 per person but it's could be a discount if you are in group 3. Also you can walk by yourself (without guide) for couple places: e.g Pico Pequeno (it's now that far) and also you can walk to the Forest Monte Velha (about 5 kms till the entrance to the Forest) or even to Mosteiros (about 16 kms in total, 10 kms at the normal road and 6 kms are a bit difficult, inside the forest - not the easiest trail but it's possible)

Katya is very welcoming, cooks very (very very) well and takes care of her client like no one did in Cap Verde. We have spent 2 weeks in Cabo Verde and haven’t met anyone that kind, welcoming and helpful. The place is also amazing. Out of nowhere, facing the sea, natural swimming pool… you name it! Katya also offers a few options to discover Fogo island like pico de fogo.

The accommodation offers airport transfers, while a bicycle rental service is also available. Great location, at the foot of the volcano and in the middle of the village. If you choose to eat there, food is really great and you are welcome at the host’s.

There is free private parking and the property features paid airport shuttle service. Ze and Sonia were super nice, friendly and accommodating. They could speak French relatively well. The room is simple but functional. The meals prepared were very delicious. The WiFi was good to work from there, and in case, the 4G antenna is located nearby. Absolutely recommended!

There is free private parking and the property features paid airport shuttle service. Exceptional! Such an amazing place and hosts. Jose and Socorro have been amazing with us all around. Jose built the place himself out of lava rock. Don't expect luxury and you won't be disappointed, you're on a volcano after all. They guided us to the top of the volcano and back, accompanied us around the area and drove us back to Sao Felipe on a sunday, when no collectivos are running. A magic place, super energetic and positive hosts, great cooks and helpful hosts.

Boasting a terrace and views of sea, Cruzeiro Guest House is a recently renovated guest house situated in São Filipe, a few steps from Sao Filipe Beach. Located on the beachfront, this property has a bar. The guest house features facilities for disabled guests. Spacious, clean room with a sea view, you can sleep listening to the waves. The staff was very friendly and helpful, good breakfast served at the roof. Super happy with this accommodation. :)

At the hotel, each room includes a desk and a patio with a mountain view. All units at Casa Marisa 2.0 are equipped with a private bathroom and bed linen. The breakfast was beyond delicious we enjoyed eating fresh goat cheese, organic fruits, and fresh coffee directly from the island 👌☺️the staff members were friendly checking if everything was good and if we needed anything else.

The accommodation provides a 24-hour front desk, airport transfers, room service and free WiFi throughout the property. The location is good, at the edge of a peaceful and friendly village means no noises at night. Also not far from Fogo viewpoint (20min drive). Bus station 30sec walking, supermarket and restaurant 10sec as both are available directly in / at the house. The owner is super friendly and is easily available via booking or WhatsApp. The room is big, with a big comfy bed and enough plugs to charge your stuff. There is a small balcony, and the bathroom has a good shower with hot water. Everything is clean and the WiFi works great. Secured parking is also available. There is a nice terrace with a pool and great views. I really liked my stay here and can totally recommend this place.

Featuring air-conditioned accommodation with a balcony, OpenSky is located in São Filipe. Featuring sea and mountain views, this bed and breakfast also offers free WiFi. Guests can make use of a terrace. Stayed one night and very pleased. I did the walk from the airport and yes about 20 minutes flat. The room was clean and the A/C worked well. Great location, right near the square. I really liked the spacious balcony. Breakfast provided and on the more basic side but still fine to start the day.
