A beautiful stay in family home. Comfortable room and air conditioning right bt the courtyard and pool. All very friendly and helpful and even gave us a lift to the bus station when we left.

Excellent location just off the main square. Spotlessly clean with hot shower and comfortable bed. Great breakfast - Irish Gerry might have been famous for his pancakes before this, but as I am gluten free, he went to the trouble of you-tubing how to make scrambled eggs! Now that is great service! He is also a terrific source of local info and an interesting character. Go there - you won't be disappointed!

A truly exceptional place, one of a kind! Beautiful: The place looks as if journal pictures came alive. Lots of greenery, the pool is large, lots of beautiful details, art, you can keep taking pictures there forever. Clean and comfortable: It is impeccable clean, the pool was cleaned every day, there are no spots in any furniture both inside the room and in common areas. Every detail is of high quality. Pleasant smells wherever you go. Room: The room is large with plenty of storage place and nice decorations. The bathroom is large and beautiful with fresh flowers and a shower with good pressure. Breakfast: Oh you don't want to miss it! Yves attends himself and we got spoiled with eggs of our choice (omelette with cheese and vegetables is yummy!), crepes with homemade jams by his wife (yum yum!) and a bowl of fresh fruit.The breakfast was not only about food, it was the whole experience by itself. It is one thing to be a nice host when everything moves smooth, but we had great experience even with all the troubles we caused. I think this is what differentiates a good host from a great one, Yves being the great one obviously :) - We checked in past midnight, Yves gave us a warm welcome. - We had daily early morning tours, where Yves woke up at 4-5 am to open us doors and prepared freshly squeezed orange juice. - My partner got sick, Yves suggested a doctor and took good care of him. - We thought we lost a wallet in the room and found it later, Yves managed the situation professionally. - I was going out alone at night with phone and money in my hands, Yves saw this and gave me some safety talk :D - I am a fruits junkie who just had to buy a big papaya. Yves offered to store the papaya in his fridge for several days in spite of it being full. Yves, we can not be grateful enough, thank you and your wife so much. Our stay felt like being at a dear friend's cool house who has always been there for us. Shahnoza and Attila

This place is a DREAM. We have visited Laguna de Apoyo a few times in the past, and have stayed in different hotels. San Simian was a lot better than the others. It had access to everything we needed, AND it was a lot more quiet, it had lots of shade and beautiful gardens. There is a hike to the Catarina Mirador 100 m away from the hotel, which was a bonus. You wake up every morning with the sounds of monkeys, birds, squirrels and a beautiful view of the water. You can order a coffee thermos and have it ready for you when you wake up in the morning, before breakfast, so you can enjoy it in your room or in the hammock outside your room, or by the lake. The shower in the cabin we stayed in was open concept. What a lovely experience to take a shower under the stars! There is always warm water, which is a plus in Nicaragua The food is delicious, the staff are friendly and extremely helpful. Daniel, the server is always ready to help with whatever you need. Daniel, the owner is amazing, He has lots of great information about the area, and about other places to stay in Nicaragua. He is always making sure that you are well taken care of, and he takes great care of his staff. We are already planning out next stay at San Simian. Can't recommend it enough!

The location was quite, in about 7 min. walk from the centre, the room was spacious and clean, the whole place is very stylish and chill, the swimming pool is big, with a tropical garden just next to it. Drinking water available, tasty breakfast (several options), you can use the kitchen outside the breakfast hours. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay immensely.

This property is within walking distance to San Juan de Oriente and Catarina where there is much to see and do if you are a creative traveller or on a walking holiday that passes nearby. This family of artists are simply wonderful; they went out of their way to make my stay as a solo traveller more enjoyable, introducing me to the fruits i brought in the local town and even showing me some ancient stone carvings in their local woodland. The accommodation offers excellent value for money and i enjoyed a wonderful ceramics lesson with a master ceramicist. Here you can enjoy an authentic Nicaraguan experience in terms of the surrounding environment whilst feeling safe, and knowing your hosts are trying to improve their local environment. Fall asleep listening to sounds of the forest and wake up to watch monkeys in the trees.
