It is a nice old building which is very Swiss and we appreciated that aspect. The room was clean and comfortable. We had a balcony with seating to enjoy right above the creek. We didn't stay in Lauenen that long as we were heading out the next day on a hiking trip but the hotel was located in a place where it was easy to walk to or catch the bus to other locations nearby. We booked a room with shared bathroom but they upgraded us to their best room since it's vacation time for them and less number of guests. They view from the balcony of the room is Amazing.
