Great location for me - I was looking at properties in the area. Julia welcomed me just as I had arrived - very friendly and helpful. She checked on a number of occasions that I had everything I needed and said to contact her there was anything at all she could help with. The kitchen was well stocked with all necessary kitchenware - probably the best I have seen in this regard. I was very comfortable. The bed linen and towels were of good quality and the bed very comfortable. I met Julia's husband and family members in passing - all very friendly.

Beautiful surroundings! Hundreds of ducks and swans. Tranquility and nature at its best 👌 I got all the writing done as I hoped for. Manual at reception was excellent! Friendly, very helpful and charming with a warm welcome. I will definitely visit again and again ☺️

We made a last-minute booking at the Hare & Hounds in Newbury, and it was fabulous! They followed up our booking with a lot of questions, including if/when we wanted a dinner/breakfast booking, what kind of tea we wanted in the room, and if we were celebrating anything (which we were). When we arrived, the staff were amazing and friendly and had our dinner/breakfast booking ready and had decorated our room for our anniversary! The room was obviously newly renovated, as was the whole property. Dinner and breakfast in the restaurant were delicious and again, the staff were very friendly. Their patio looked lovely, but it was quite stormy, so we couldn’t take advantage. We wish that we could have stayed longer, and have told our friends in the area about the hotel and restaurant so that they can pass it on to other visitors. We will definitely book here again when we are in the area. Thanks!!

The team at Dolphin are second to no other pub/acommodation, they are simply fabulous. I stayed at the Dolphin for a week, as I was travelling from Hong Kong, and was sad to leave them all at the end of the week. The pub atmosphere was, as one would hope, was like a comforting home. There was great chat at the bar and the food was off the chart good, and superb value for money. I can not recommend the Dolphin highly enough.
