The only downside was, that the place is located far out of Akita, but if you travel by car or don’t mind of taking the bus and walk through along some fields (f you travel with a backpack) it is definitely worth a stay.

Located just 24 km from Kamo Aquarium, Tamonkan features accommodation in Tsuruoka with access to a garden, a terrace, as well as a concierge service. This ryokan offers free private parking and luggage storage space. The accommodation provides a hot tub, free WiFi throughout the property and family rooms. It was close to the zuishinmon gate and the path up to mt Haguro. The hosts were so kind and accommodating. Traditional Japanese style stay and traditional breakfast (which was phenomenal!)

Very spacious suite for $135 came with complimentary drinks and snacks on arrival. Included great breakfast options. This hotel advertised itself as an adult hotel, on booking sites like Booking.com. Under the law it's classed as a 'love hotel' but don't let that put you off. Our suite gave no clue except for one locked vendor in a cupboard. Fantastic concept with great friendly and helpful staff. Whoever came up with this concept should be congratulated.

Staying at R;MOGAMI was truly an unforgettable experience from start to finish. Even before our late arrival, the kind gentleman in charge guided us patiently through everything via a messaging app—making sure we felt welcomed and informed before even stepping through the door. Upon arrival, we were amazed: the room was spotless, beautifully scented, and perfectly prepared. The view was absolutely breathtaking, and everything was designed for comfort and relaxation—an electric barbecue, a warm outdoor bath, and even a fully stocked fridge with a delicious homemade dinner and breakfast ready for us. What truly made it magical was the subtle care: the next morning, while we were away, they quietly collected the used items and restocked the fridge with a fresh dinner—like little invisible fairies making sure everything remained perfect without ever disturbing our peace. This place is perfect for anyone looking to disconnect, reconnect with nature, or enjoy a romantic escape. I still don’t know the name of the kind man who greeted us each morning with a warm smile, but I want to sincerely thank him—his presence made our stay even more special. I can only recommend R;MOGAMI with all my heart.

Guests can make use of a garden. The atmosphere was superb, very helpful and kind staff! The food was also brilliant, I also used their sauna room which was very nice too and very reasonably priced. Overall, wonderful for the price. The view from the room of the lake was unbelievable as well.
