Room was perfectly tidy and clean. Beds were super comfy and I really liked the fact that the room had a perfect view of the outdoor space . Windows were everywhere, and the scenery was amazing during all day. A very good possibility to see northern lights as well over there. As there was only one hotel around and the rest of the area was surrounded by fields and a lake. The owners were also very friendly and helpful. They offered as biscuits in our room, tea, coffee, chocolates. They gave us directions and advises of where is best to go.

Peacefully situated by Lake Villingarholt, Vatnsholt Bed & Breakfast is 16 km from Selfoss town centre. Impressive mountain views are featured.

- Very friendly, warm and welcoming host with amazing cuddly and playful dogs: it was a lot of fun seeing Nero running in circles with his giant ball and Pluto laying on your foot for a belly rub! - Shower cabin is clean and equipped with all necessities - Cabin is obviously small, but space was well thought, with plenty of shelves to accommodate things needed for our stay: even if it involves some logistical planning, travelling with massive suitcases was not an issue - Cabins themselves and the location were beautiful and peaceful, making this stay the nicest of a 16 days trip!

We had such a wonderful stay at the Old School House. Honestly, part of me wants to gatekeep this place – but of course I won’t. As a half-Icelandic person, this has definitely become one of my new favorite spots to stay in the countryside. We loved the garden, which was open for everyone to use. We actually ended up staying in for both dinner and breakfast, even though we had plans to go out and eat at restaurants. But the garden was just too cozy – we couldn’t resist. We also really enjoyed the hot tub and had an amazing evening watching the sunset. The kitchen and bedrooms were super clean and comfortable. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone traveling to Iceland. Magnea and Greg were so lovely and welcoming. You can really feel that they care and want you to have the best stay possible. 10/10, would recommend!:))

Beautiful secluded location, perfect for seeing the aurora and clear night skies. Accommodation had everything we needed (towels, kitchen equipment, a gift of Icelandic chocolate!). Despite unseasonably cold temperatures we were never cold in the building and could sleep comfortably. Bonus tour of the barn where the goats are kept and getting to know all about the great work Helena does for Icelandic goat conservation.
