Great family-owned place in Yudanaka. Comfortable, clean, friendly staff. We especially liked the Kaiseki dinner and the private onsen. Free shuttle to the station and the monkey park.

The rooms are quite nice and the onsen is open almost 24/7, so it is easy for guests to relax after a long day of exploring. Most importantly, the hotel staff is beyond helpful and experienced with handling international guests. You can rest at ease as an international guest at this hotel. The staff offered restaurant recommendations, rides to nearby attractions, and even lent me jumper cables and personally helped me when I had car trouble. Although it's not the fanciest hotel in the area, I guarentee it is the hotel with the warmest atmosphere.
Tip: The hotel walls are plastered with home-made posters containing recommendations of how to best enjoy the local town and attractions, so be sure to check it out!

Just wow, beautiful location, amazing food, the staff were lovely. Not sure you could find anything more traditional. A really awe inspiring experience. The onsen was soo beautiful. A shame that the men get the most time in the Momoyama section as it is jaw droppingly beautiful and would be so cool to watch the day break from there. Great that you can take photos in the morning before you depart. So atmospheric at night. Not touristy at all and full of locals. Scrub up on your Japanese before you go!

The dormitory beds were in their own cozy little cubicles. An extra blanket was provided. The decoration was very Japanese and nice. The bed slept well. I also loved the atmosphere of this guesthouse! The owner is very friendly and hospitable. In the common area there were blanketed tables, which was great for your free morning coffee. Everything was very clean and in good shape. The location is wonderful and free parking was nice. The town has some good restaurants and everything you could need.

Onsens, Fantastic Food, Snow Monkeys - What more could you ask for!
A short walk from the Yudanaka Station, this is a perfect little spot.
We chose to stay in the Japanese room, very comfortable with a gorgeous garden view where you could sit and forget about the world.
The breakfast and dinner were absolute highlights of our stay. The breakfast was an amazing selection of many dishes beautifully presented using local ingredients. I loved the watercolor-sketched menu, which provided a unique and artistic description of each dish.
The dinner service was equally impressive. The lovely staff were attentive and went above and beyond to accommodate our specific requests, ensuring a truly personalised dining experience.
The staff at Kamei No Yu were exceptional throughout our stay. They were so incredibly friendly, helpful, and always ready to assist with any requests. We were particularly touched by the staff's attentiveness towards my mother, demonstrating a level of care that truly meant a lot to us. Tomo, and the ladies were incredibly patient and helpful.
The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the private onsen session. What a treat afetr a cold day exploring. Relaxing and rejuvenating experience, which I had one at home.

If you ever do visit, I highly recommend Yudanaka Yumoto Ryokan in Yamanouchi. The hospitality, the atmosphere, the beautiful rooms – everything about it felt like a warm embrace. The okami-san was the kindest person, perfectly embodying the spirit of the place. It’s the kind of experience that makes you want to return again and again – a place that showed me peace, that showed me beauty. For as long as I live, I won’t forget my time here.
The setting takes me to a past where samurai once sat here, sipping green tea, listening to the water as it trickled through the garden – a soft, serene sound that whispers of peace. Even the smallest stream in the tiniest garden can bring calm to a traveller's heart.

Amazing property with even more amazing staff.
We stayed for two night during our honeymoon and couldn’t be happier with the experience.
It was an authentic yet luxurious Ryokan. Our room was beautifully decorated, spotless and it even had its own onsen. The food was exceptional and the staff was very well trained and extremely friendly. Highly recommended this hotel and would love to go back on day.
