Our rooms are designed with traditional Japanese aesthetics, featuring tatami mat flooring throughout. For those who prefer a futon on tatami or a bed, we also offer Japanese-Western style rooms. The warm ambiance is further enhanced by local artists' paintings adorning the walls. Very nice Ryokan. Room was super big that had sitting/tea area. We ordered the dinner separately and it was a very nice experience too.

Beautiful and cozy Ryokan from a lovely and kind family. Was a unique and special experience to stay here. The breakfast was delicious, nice location by the river, and the onsen was relaxing. Freindly staff who could communicate in English (less common is this rural area). Meals excellent and varied. Lovely building. Quiet.

We were the only ones at the ryokan because it was off season so we had the entire onsen to ourselves. Food was also very good

Just 40 metres from restored Edo-era post town Magome-Juku, Chaya Hotel has simple traditional rooms with futon bedding and a tatami-mat floor. It has a hot public bath, and Japanese meals are available for a fee. Magome Chaya was wonderfully located right on the Nakasendo in the heart of beautiful Magome. The Kaiseki dinner and breakfast was delicious, and we were thankful our dietary needs were able to be accommodated for.

The hotel is located in the center of Takayama city, and there are many restaurants around. The Japanese-style accommodation offers spacious public baths. No meals are provided, but bread and soup are provided as light meals in the room. Free parking is provided on site. The room is very big, comfortable and clean at an affordable price. Great onsen also.
