Overlooking Matera’s Sasso Barisano, Fra I Sassi Residence is set in restored 17th-century buildings inside the Matera Sassi UNESCO site area. It offers a sun terrace and air-conditioned rooms with stone walls and views of the historical centre. The location and view are amazing. Matera is a very challenging place to park, but we got great advanced information and a very convenient shuttle. The cave room is perfection. It is large and comfortable with a front patio area that contains a small table and chairs to admire the incredible view.

Ridola Hotel was designed in 1872 by Leonardo Ridola, a famous local architect. It still has original vaults and pavements, and its façade features a solar clock from the 1900s. This is a true boutique hotel with outstanding service. All staff are very professional, attentive, eager to make guests happy. Rooms are very well decorated, good size, modern, comfortable. The gardens and free parking lot are beautiful. Excellent breakfast. Staff were very helpful pointing the best places to visit in Matera, since the quaint town has so much to see and visit.
