Maison Mathilde is in the class of fine boutique hotels, but is a B&B. The breakfast is excellent, the rooms exceed any expectation. We had one called "Jeff", forty square meters with a tub, nice shower and good furniture. King size bed with a perfect mattress. With a free-standing tub in the room itself (no separate bathroom), of course you have to be good friends to share the room with someone, but it is a cool decor. The house is an old mansion with a big park right outside the large breakfast room and lobby.

Set in a large garden, this 19th-century mansion is a 5-minute drive from Valenciennes city centre and SNCF Train Station. The charming rooms are spacious and individually decorated.

Great location. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. You can open a sliding door so nice to get fresh air in the room at night and not get woken up with noise. The downstairs restaurant and cafe area at the entrance are modern and clean. I was able to work here for a couple of hours after check out. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.

Grand Hôtel de Valenciennes is located just opposite the TGV Train Station of Valenciennes, close to the motorway and town centre and it has a 24-hour reception.

The staff are very welcoming and friendly. We ate in the restaurant, it was super tasty. All in all great value for money.

Staff very helpful 👍 turned up later than I expected had to cancel 1 of the rooms there then it was not a problem for the staff to short out.
