Sandy’s place is in a great position in Barrydale. Easy to find and very safe. Everyone was incredibly helpful at the property, including help with my very first braai. The room was cleaned every day and sheets were changed regularly. The swimming pool came in very handy when it became hot.

The cottage is beautifully decorated and has lots of lovely touches to make guests feel comfortable and welcome. The bed is very comfortable, the bathroom is huge and there are great views from the front porch. Jamie met us soon after our arrival and was always available to answer questions. She made dinner reservations for us at MUD Modern and recommended many places to go in the area. Jamie even gave us an ice pack and box to transport the sheep's milk yoghurt we bought. We loved how bright and clean the cottage is and highly recommend staying here.

    Lovely quiet country village. Interesting little shops & great 2nd hand bookshop. Great walks/hikes & excellent restaurants (highly recommend "Mud"). Lots of interesting history.

    Route 62 is a great drive and Barrydale is a convenient distance from Cape Town for a stop, The village is small but has interesting places to visit. Arrive in time to look round and leave the next by lunchtime the next day - that's all the time you need but it's worth taking time to stop and look round. We found it a friendly place and were not pestered by beggars.

    I love that the people there have old school charm, honest and down to earth. The arty vibe and friendliness stand out for me. If you love reading as I do, it is just perfect. Peaceful, relaxed and lovely. Great architecture in town and amazing rock formations and plants on the outskirts. It just has so much interesting facets.

    Lot's a quirky spots to visit, some great food, and perfect for walks and biking. Diesel and creme was a hit, food was great. Karoo hotel is great spot too for a dinner or to watch some sport. Ronnie's Sex Shop can only be believed once seen! We didn't stay long, but I'm not sure how much there was for kids to do in the area.

    I've known Barrydale for decades and it has mostly retained its quaintness and country charm. A lively little town with interesting shops and restaurants, close to places like Warmwaterberg (hot spring) and a good stop-over between George and Cape Town.

    Barrydale has some quirky little shops, coffee shops and a very interesting African art museum and curio shop. Everything closes at 4 p.m. along the main road, so the Karoo Art Hotel is a good choice for dinner. It was nice seeing Barrydale, but it is small enough to do within a couple of hours.

    On, a rather late, evening arrival we walked into the cosy, welcoming cottage of The Karoo Kaven. We could enjoy delicious coffee, and put something quick on the braai. The hot shower and very comfortable bed was heaven. The rest of the weekend was spent exploring Barrydale and cooling off in the quiet garden, experiencing the Karoo at its best. Karoo Kaven is a gem, we were amazed at the preparation the owners must've put in. We never needed something, not thought of and ready to be used. We had such a blessed weekend.

Spend a whole day or two exploring, meeting the friendly locals. Enjoy fabulous fare at the Blue Cow coffee shop and be inspired by owner, hostess, and enterprising farmer Hanette, a hardworking woman with loads of personality and love in her bones. You'll fill up on soul food and leave feeling inspired.

    The White House was absolutely a golden choice in Barrydale! Lovely Nicola welcomed us with open arms and offered us a lovely room with terrace. Loved all the details at this place! Breakfast was prepared in the evening for us to take and enjoy as we pleased the next morning. Nicola even made a reservation at a restaurant just a stone's throw away and it turned out to be excellent food with outstanding service. Can only recommend!

    Beautiful old farm house in Barrydale with history. Oom Sakkie, the owner is a wonderful host. We were warmly welcomed by Oom Sakkie, who gave us a tour of the house and the rest of the property. He also gave us some of his famous “skilpaadjies” which were delicious. Would highly recommend anyone who wants to take a break to stay over at Goedgeloof Farm Stay. Beautiful house / scenery and warm welcome from host.
