There's a reason Newport has been a destination for some of...
There's a reason Newport has been a destination for some of the most affluent in America for many years. The location is absolutely perfect; You are surrounded by the beauty of the sea and some of the best historical buildings in a small city! There's so much to do for anyone, for any length of time. There are some fantastic neighbourhoods to check out, like Broadway and Upper and Lower Thames. But you can find some great places even far out in the Fifth Ward if you're willing to explore. Ocean Drive is beautiful by any way of travel, I honestly suggest taking a good part of a day and going by foot or by pedal power. You can even start or end with the Cliff Walk which is an amazing trek for any visitor! For being a small city like it is, Newport punches well above it's weight when it comes to dining options. Whatever you might want, you will likely find it somewhere in Newport. There's so much to do and see in the City by the Sea!Guest review byAnonymous - 10

We take a day trip to Newport about twice a year, and wanted to stay a few days this time. Very happy we did. It was very busy, but due to size it's still manageable. Parking is a bit of a problem, but we downloaded the Passport app which made it easy once we found a spot. Our favorite activity is the Ocean Drive out to Brenton Point. Newport is great If you are into nautical and historical locations. Reminds me of Annapolis. The streets are very tiny in the center of town much like Old England. They are working on the Cliff Walk so time didn't allow me to find parking and walk to the part that is open. I went for a John Lodge concert at the Jane Pickens which is a nice little theater. Getting around is easy on foot, less so with a car because of the narrowness of the streets and insufficient parking.
