Excellent food with excellent stuff. The hotel gives you more than they promise. Friendly stuff always helping and guiding. The breakfast was best in my life. Greetings to the chef Lance Louise who is amazing person and talented. Also I would like to thank the owner and Amir who made our stay better than it was. The rooms are clean and well-designed. The hotel design is mesmerizing.

Sadly only here for a very short time - arrived after midnight and left at 8am, but the bed was comfy and breakfast was delicious. Late night checkin was no problem I wish I could have stayed longer to explore a little more.

What an absolute gorgeous gem of a hotel in Stone Town. Truly authentic building and decor and incredible bedrooms. I stayed in the ‘Kate’ room which was utterly delightful. Beautiful private terrace overlooking the town, enormous bedroom (beautifully decorated) and an open-air bathtub adjoining. Super private. Gorgeous to wake up in the morning and open the doors and feel the breeze filter through. Beautiful bed linen and towels (woven locally) and handmade soaps. If you are into aesthetics, then this is the place for you. I can’t say enough to rate the hotel. All the staff were absolutely delightful and super attentive (as a single female traveller it was very much appreciated). The Manager was extremely kind and friendly. Also organised a fantastic private tour of the town for me which was brilliant. The rooftop restaurant is to die for. The best, authentic and freshest of food I have ever eaten. The taster plate experience with sunset and cocktails was dreamy. Amazing views and ambiance. Didn’t want it to end! The Secret Garden restaurant is also absolutely worth a visit. I attended on a Friday evening when there was live music being performed. Truly magical. Again, the food was just amazing and the staff all super kind.

Zanzibar is an amazing destination with beautiful beaches, friendly people, and a rich culture. Stone Town is full of history and character, and the spice farms, sandbanks, and snorkeling trips make the experience unforgettable. The food is delicious, especially the seafood, and the atmosphere is so relaxing. I highly recommend visiting Zanzibar for anyone looking for a mix of adventure and relaxation.

I really enjoyed visiting Stone Town and the spice farms.

I really enjoyed visiting Stone Town and the spice farms. I mostly ate at my hotel, and at night I went to Forodhani, where the seafood was amazing. Although most of my time was spent in meetings, I managed to take a few walks, and I found it quite easy to get around using taxis or simply walking through the main areas. For anyone staying near town, great activities in Zanzibar include exploring Stone Town, taking a spice tour, relaxing at the beach, and joining a group boat trip

    Wonderful city.

Wonderful city. Recommend Stone Town for first time visitors. Vibrant with tightly-packed activity: people selling tourist items from small shops. Negotiate for everything. Loved the food/vibes at Secret Garden restaurant. Prepare to wake at dawn, the first of 5 daily calls to prayer from mosques. Stone Town is not clean. Garbage and feral cats are everywhere (sadly they contribute to the decimation of birds which is why you really only see the House Crow anywhere on the island.) Definitely visit the Slave Museum, $5, and Prison Island (recommend a tour as you need a small boat to get there.) As a solo woman traveling, I recommend a good sense of humor and talk to people- they’re friendly and helpful but shop owners can be assertive. I hired a guide for 3 days. Best decision! About $300 all in. Walk to Forodhani Beach at sunset-lovely. A great adventure. Visit Prison Island and the slave museum.

It’s great, wonderful shopping and cool spots to visit.

It’s great, wonderful shopping and cool spots to visit. However, the pressure from the Taxi drivers as well as the Beach boys is pretty annoying and intimidating. You just have to develop your methods of saying no politely, but they are very persistent. They will try and drag you into a conversation in the hopes that they can get you to buy something and it’s really exhausting. They’ll ask you where you’re from what is your name, where you going where your staying… questions that no reasonable single woman would ever answer to a man in a foreign country …Most kind and polite people have a hard time ignoring that…. And I guess that’s the point of why they ask you those question. Nonetheless it’s my least favourite part of visiting here . It gets really old after a while. In many cases, they will follow you and continue to try to talk to you when you’ve said no like five times. I had to in many cases tell them to stop following me. It’s a bit intimidating as a single woman traveller…you think they’d know better than that but I do get it …they’re all just scrambling to make a buck. All that said, take a dalla dalla from Darjani market(or all over the island for that matter) #505 airport …a great local experience. 500 shillings(20 cents) to get from the airport to Stone Town in 15 mins…super easy. The taxis charge 25-30USD!

If you're looking for a beach holiday, I really wouldn't recommend Zanzibar, there are better destinations like Seychelles, Mauritius etc. People keep trying to annoy you, they will try to "escort" you and ask you for money, you won't get any lone time on the beach.

    Zanzibar is a beautiful island.

Zanzibar is a beautiful island. I have never seen water so blue! We ate at the Rock restaurant which was amazing. We took a Spice tour, tour to Prison Island, Blue Atoll, Salami Cave and to see the Red Columbus monkeys. I would recommend all of the tours. The people are friendly and helpful. There are cats everywhere! Locals seem to take good care of them and put out food for them. There is even a cat cross walk sign.

Hotel outside area was nice, restaurant was pretty in evenings (needed more lighting at restaurant). Beach was nice but didn’t look like pictures on Booking.com. Comfy loungers. Large bed and spacious room. Aircon and Wi-Fi worked well. Hotel was close to airport and 10 min drive from stone town. Locals were nice on the beach. The cats were super friendly and looked like they were looked after. Pool was nice. Manager asked us for our opinion on hotel before leaving and listened to our considerations which was nice.

The surroundings of the hotel are real magic, the facility is in the middle of Stone Town, the historical heart of Zanzibar City, with sweet narrow streets and the soul of the island. The staff are amazing, always at your service, I needed to print 40 papers for work, they did it without charge, I forgot my jacket in the closet and went on a safari, they kept it for me and handed it to me when I got back. The beds are super comfortable. Bathroom ok.

The location is excelent, in front of the see and close to historical area and markets/shops. The staff is very friendly. There is a nice roof top to see the sunset. Although the beach in front of the hotel is not very good to swim the hotel has a nice pool. The tour in Stone Town and Prison Island/Nakupenda that the hotel organized were very good.
