Bușteni really is a gem in the Prahova Valley.
Bușteni really is a gem in the Prahova Valley. Its relatively flat layout compared to nearby towns like Sinaia or Azuga does make it more walkable, especially for longer strolls without steep climbs. Being right at the foot of the Caraiman Peak with the Bucegi Mountains towering around gives it that dramatic, postcard-perfect backdrop. It's no wonder the town has become a favourite for both hikers and casual visitors alike. If you're visiting to go see the mountains this is a great place. If you're looking for a city to walk through and do stuff in, it's almost useless. You can find good food, sure. Beautiful Bucegi mountains views everywhere! That's why people come here! But you have to put up with bad traffic, especially weekends! Not much food choices - after 6 most fast food joins were for sweet food. The restaurants were not great - Sinaia has better choices. The grocery shops are ok, parking was fine and the place is walkable. A lot of the people did not speak English or pretended not to because we felt like they did not want to interact with us when paying or asking a question. It has many things that make it feel like a home and not a hotel: games, toys, decorations, kitchenware. Despite that it was sparkling clean! It shows that a lot of thought was put into making guests feel comfortable and at ease, with plenty of accessible information about the area. Mihaela was very kind and helpful.
