Lovely hotel! Food was great, although understaffed, everyone was very nice and offered great service. It was a pleasant surprise to stay in this hotel after a long walk in El Camino de Santiago. I would definitely stay again!

Axis Ofir Hotel – A Camino Gem After a long day on the Camino, the Axis Ofir Hotel in Esposende was an absolute delight. The staff were friendly and attentive, the rooms were cosy and comfortable (just what tired legs needed!), and the location is stunning. The food was delicious, a real treat after a day’s walk. Highly recommended – would return in a heartbeat!

The host was nice and helpful, we checked in earlier with no issues. Great location with shops and great restaurants nearby. The place is really nice and clean and you can see they've put a lot of effort into it and that they value their guests comfort and well-being. It was the perfect place after a hot camino day, the swimming pool helped as well. The breakfast was very good, and nicely served from a basket. The only downside was that we didn't stay longer so if you can, it's worth to take a full rest day there, you won't regret it.

    Beach at Esposende too difficult to swim in due to pepples. Other beaches at Ofir and Apulia excellent. Limited supply of restaurants and limitless supply of banks!!! Surprised by the obvious wealth amongst the Portuguese people with holiday homes here. Very few estrangers. Not for sailors. Good for families. Some surprising sculptures dotted around the esplanade from 1997 one in particular near the San Lorenca fort at Esponsende.

    A very lovely little town, with lots of nice cafes and restuarants to choose from. Especially liked the italian pizzeria in the town square, food was delicious. There were also some nice shops. A museum in the town, and a craft market every 3rd Sunday in the month. A lovely promenade with a children's play park on the front.

    We did not actually go to Esposende.

    We did not actually go to Esposende. As booking.com should be perfectly well aware, our hotel is situated in Ofir which is probably about 5 km away. The nearest town is Fão in respect of which please see comments elsewhere.In any event I have been to Esposende before and it is pleasant enough but not the centre of the universe

    All the good restaurants are outside Esponsende - mainly in Apulia. A nice little hike or short taxi ride. Bridge to Fao needs some TLC, at least if you walk over it. Fantastic views, but the rusty bits on the footpath high above the water are somewhat anxiety-inducing (and I even heard that from experienced Camino walkers ...) Would not walk over a second time ...

    Esposende was one of the best places to stay that we have...

    Esposende was one of the best places to stay that we have had on this trip for the Camino de Santiago. The people that run the hotel are wonderful and very friendly. Everything is very clean and they have a great lounge with a good kitchen to make what you want. I would recommend them and their rooms to anyone going to that area.

    We thought everybody had left town.

    We thought everybody had left town. The whole place was strangely quiet and deserted. We struggled to find an open place to eat. It was early September. A lot of derelict buildings. Just about good enough for a one night Camino stopover.

    The hotel is a fantastic place to be, a beautiful piece of architecture, no matter where you are. The lines, the light, and the different spaces are stunning and interesting at any time of day. Staff are kind, helpful, and easy to talk to. Two great receptionists, and I'm sure many other people in the background work hard to keep the place in shape and your stay memorable.     This place was a real surprise. It was comfortable, clean and quiet despite being on a main road. There wasn't a restaurant nearby but the hotel provided a small dinner menu. We loved our lasagne. The room was clean. Shower fantastic. Staff very helpful.
