Ollantaytambo is a gem of a town, my favorite so far of the Sacred Valley towns I have stayed in. The historic part of town feels like it must have felt with the Incas were living there in precolonial days. The streets are kept immaculately clean. Everything you might need is within short walking distance but does not intrude on the authenticity of the town. The views of the Inca ruins on all sides take you back in time. I would gladly go back for a longer stay. The constant flow of large tourist vans down the main street can be a bit annoying as they don't seem to belong, but you can avoid this. One great thing about Kamma Guest House is that it is not in the main stream.

Awesome characterful town well worth an overnight stay. We would love to return. The archeological site is stunning but don’t forget to spend some time exploring Pinkuylluma. The hike is steep and challenging but short and so worth it.

Strongly recommend to stay in the city instead of doing your...

Strongly recommend to stay in the city instead of doing your Machu Picchu trip from Cusco directly. It would be much less tiring and the city of Ollantaytambo is very cosy and comfortable. Specially if you are coming from outside Cusco and flying in, my recommendation to fly into Cusco and go straight to Ollantaytambo, stay here and visit Machu Picchu. Following by this, go back to Cusco for your stay and fly back. This was a good way we thought to beat the potential high altitude sickness.

Ollantaytambo is a very interesting place in itself. It can also be used as a starting point to visit Machu Picchu and other interesting archeological sites around. It's about 2 hours from Cusco by taxy.

A delightful small town set in dramatic scenery. A bustling town square and a quieter and interesting old quarter with a variety of bars and restaurants The two sets of ruins either side of town are worth a visit for the views.

A really lovely hotel literally on the train station platform. Don’t let this put you off as the trains do not run at night so there is no noise from that. The hotel has beautiful gardens, has a wonderful design aesthetic, delicious food and very friendly staff. The hotel has a farm, coffee roasters and distillery which can visit and meet lovely people who tell you everything. Ollantaytambo is also a great little town and has a great buzz with lots of people arriving by train. We loved this hotel.

The hotel is family run with kind and hospitable hosts. Doña Rosa and Yuri made our stay there very special. It is located in the historic center of the most beautiful town in the Sacred Valley. Breakfast is served on a terrace overlooking the town, the mountains, and the ruins. The rooms were clean and had everything you need. We loved every single moment of every day that we were there.

We stayed two nights at this lovely hotel as the base to Machu Picchu. The morning before we checked out we visited Ollantaytambo Ruins which we could see it from our room's balcony and just 5 minuets walking. The room was clean and the breakfast was good. Freddy at the front desk was very helpful and provided the info around the town.

Very nice hotel, close to the main square and about 10 minutes away from the train station. Very helpful receptionists, especially David. I was allowed to leave my bags at the hotel when I travelled to Machu Picchu by train. I truly recommend this hotel.
