The Maltese were friendly, helpful, accommodating and immensely proud of their country. They were happy to answer questions about their town and country and make suggestions on sightseeing. The local buses were the best and cheapest form of transport with a weekly Tallinja card. Excellent food prepared with fresh ingredients was readily available. Good choice of shops, bars and restaurants; we were amazed at the very good prices for food and drink. It's a great base from which to explore the island. Victoria, Gozo is such a beautiful and special place. Walking through its streets feels like stepping into a different world, with its historic charm and peaceful atmosphere. The Cittadella is a highlight—not just for its stunning views but for the sense of history that surrounds you as you explore. The town itself is full of life, with lovely cafes, shops, and markets where you can truly experience the local culture. I actually live on the outskirts of Victoria and would certainly recommend it to visitors to Gozo and Malta. Gozo is mainly very beautiful with historic villages and many magnificent churches and neolithic remains. Victoria's historic center with its medieval narrow streets, busy squares, restaurants, churches and Citadel feature as the primary attractions. Escape from the heat and buzz of activity by relaxing in the beautiful Villa Rundle Gardens. For opera fans the city does have two opera houses which stage performances in October.
