The buildings are lovely.
The buildings are lovely. There's plenty of places to eat and local sightseeing. The only thing I would comment on is that there aren't any large shops(that we came across, anyway). Lots of small convenience stores and bakeries but only the basics. If you have hired a car or don't mind getting buses to bigger shops then it's a non issue. Rabat was a pleasant surprise .
Rabat was a pleasant surprise . It was very pleasant to wander the lanes of the old town , lots of nooks and crannies. Plenty of places to eat and drink , all types , also little shops that you could miss if no time to explore. Locals very friendly and helpful. A completely different side to Malta from Valletta. Rabat's main attraction will always be its proximity to Mdina, but there is plenty to enjoy in the town, including some great pastries and restaurants and the fascinating underground shelters and catacombs. It is an utterly delightful little hotel. Every little thing has been thought of. If your budget can stretch to it, we highly recommend booking a superior room (I'm sure the other rooms are superb too). The location is excellent, right in the centre of Rabat and a quick walk to Mdina. If you have a car, there's a public car park a few seconds away which had spaces 99% of the time we were there.
