Podgorica is small and doesn’t feel like a capital. It has lots of nice parks. There are a couple of art galleries, but they only host temporary exhibitions, so they were closed while the displays were being changed. The girl at the hotel told us that not many tourists come to Podgorica, as the seaside locations are more popular. Even so, we visited many places, enjoyed a really nice cake and coffee during the day, and had dinner at Pod Volat, which is an excellent restaurant. Podgorica does not get great reviews in the travel guides but we really enjoyed our day there. Very clean, very safe and very green. No great sites but lots of interest to see how people live. I probably wouldn't recommend visiting the city...
I probably wouldn't recommend visiting the city... We spent one night here after staying in Budva to be closer to the airport the next day. We felt there wasn't much to see (maybe we just didn't know the right spots...). However, would highly recommend staying in the coastal towns like Budva! Might be easier to fly into Tivat Airport instead. Be careful with the taxi drivers - there's a lot of scammers out there and unfortunately, Uber/Bolt isn't available. I was met at the airport by the host (even though it was late at night) and dropped back to the airport when flying out - in both cases, free of any additional charge. The staff is incredibly friendly, and the breakfast is served in a lovely café you can enter directly from the hotel. Parking costs €10 - there are a few spots right in front of the entrance to text them before arriving.
