The Riad Caravene is fantastic in every way. The riad looks like something from House Beautiful with beautiful spaces and lovely art. The rooms are gorgeous, the common spaces lovely. Particularly nice are the two terraces near and at the top of the riad, with great views in all directions and lovely furnishings. The small pool and deck on the ground floor also were lovely and a perfect spot after walking around the ksar. The staff were wonderfully helpful and the food outstanding. The family who own and run the hotel are ALL wonderful, very friendly and helpful. The room was small but comfortable and we felt well taken care of and very safe. Entering from the garden (the white sand bags in the river), climbing to the top and crossing in the bridge on the return is perfect. Most people come here for a few hours.
Most people come here for a few hours. I stayed for 3 days and could have stayed longer. It’s a lovely friendly town where you can spend time browsing through small shops, visiting art galleries, watching the night sky and soaking up the ambiance of this historical place. It's a really quiet town honestly.
It's a really quiet town honestly. It is a convenient place to stop, half way between Marrakesh and Merzouga but i feel like half a day would be plenty to see it all. I spent two days and it was definitely too long. The city itself is nothing special, rather touristy. Plenty of tour buses stop for the day, so it gets crowded between 11 to 5, but insanely quiet a night once they're all gone. I highly recommend La Terraza for dinner, they actually have delicious Italian food, with charcuterie and cheese, and their pizza and pasta are authentic. The kasbah was great to visit. Enjoyed the climb. Found some good shops for souvenirs. Brilliant views. Stunning scenery. Not much in the town / Main Street. Just a few cafes. The environment was very relaxing. Before arriving in the hotel, we had initially planned to visit Ait Ben Haddou, however, we decided to stay in the hotel because it was very peaceful. Furthermore, our room was very beautiful and the bed was very comfy. The dinner was fantastic!! the chef made an awesome dinner that it was the best dinner we had in our stay in Morocco. The staff, especially Houssine, were wonderful, helpful and kind. There is private parking, a swimming pool and plenty of areas, inside and out, to chill. Perhaps the most impressive is the terrace where there is an amazing view of Ait Ben Haddou. I would definitely recommend the food - delicious and very reasonable.
